bm, you are pretty much spot on with your reference to meadows revival. a few good 'ins' for them this year, including the coach. where is he from.
do you play there?

Hillsrider, I quoted "the gun" thing, I have never seen him play footy. I just heard that he lost his licence.
PURELY from the chatter here, sounds like he's passed up some good opportunities to 'play it safe'...fair to say? You don't want to get to 30-31ish and WISH you'd played at a higher level.

jq, in the hills, he has been a very good player. interestingly, he only really started to play at the level we know he can at about age 20. the couple of years before that, he was struggling to play senior footy. at about the year before meadows won their first of 4 premierships, he improved enormously. as did meadows, obvioulsy.
but now, he is just another one of those very good country footballers that has/had the ability to a lot further, and will never know if he could have.
jeez, when i was younger, all i ever wanted to do was to play in the highest standard possible. that way, i knew, later in life, if i was asked the question. i could answer it.

More importantly Lofty V Uraidla next week, what a game that will be. Lofty has 12 players in the assocaition squad. Uraidla almost the same. How pissed off would you be risking injury to all of those lads if you where Sutherland or Grainger.

Ohhh, yeah. It's flattering for both teams (I think I said about 8 each), but that could really affect your squad no matter how good your depth.
The uraidla Lofty game will be a cracker. Hope I can get there.
Lofty out at Loby this weekend isn't a bad warm up. Who have Uraidla got?

I believe Uraidla play Mt Barker. may be a pretty good game as well. Logic suggests your'e gonna lose a game somewhere, and the Barker boys did have a reasonable side in the win over Loby. Mt Lofty may well be a bit hesitant in the visit to Lobethal, the Tigers have stitched up the Devils for many years out at the Valley of Praise. Gee didn't they even belt them by over 300 points a few years ago. Mt Lofty are playing well, but complacency can be a bigger rival than the opposition. Both Uri and Mt Lofty should not get ahead of themselves, worry about this round before their anticipated block buster in Round 8. What happened to Sam Miles, was a great player for Mt Lofty last season, has he been squeezed out of the salary cap, given the reported dollar bills being handed out at Heathfield? May be Sudjai Cook will put in a big effort against a club which didn't want to spend money on him!

Maybe Surjai Cook should get BOG one week and earn his $600 a game.

Fair point.
Ball Magnet - you're right, i think it was over 300, I think Loby kicked 55 goals...times have changed, i think Lofty will win, but it'll be close.
And i agree withthe complacency thing too. No-one likes to lose but it does help you pin point weaknesses that can be worked on.

Close match between Barker and the Cabbage. Quite low scoring for what was a excellent day for football, will Uri's tough hit out effect their performance against the rampaging devils?

some interesting results in div 2.
kangy flogged maccy. start planning for next year maccy!!!....again!
nairne easily over gums. both teams need to plan for next year!
kersbrook as expected over callington. how long can callington keep being like this. cant guage kersbrook yet.
birdwood easy over echunga. maybe the jury is out at echunga. might have to rethink birdwood.
meadows easy over blackwood. should have been more. no c dawe mentioned anywhere. blackwood will struggle. loud murmerings up that way.

I was a bit surprised with Echunga...I thought they may be the ones to challenge TV and Kangarilla. Maybe not. Bit of a slump at the minute.
Robby - I don't reckon the close game with affect Uri's too much. I was really surprised that there was just a point in it though. Mt Barker are really hard to gauge.
I think Uri's and Lofty may very well go in with near-strength lineups.

This saturday's game Lofty v Uraidla will have to be one of the most anticipated games for a long time in hills footy. I can't wait to get down there and have a look. I just hope the weather stays fine to see two fine sides hit it out.

I am interested to know everyone's tips??

But give me two tips guys, the first tip for a nice dry day, and the second tip for a wet slippery day.

I am thinking if its dry, Lofty by 5 Goals, if its wet Lofty by 3 goal
How good is footy!

Hmmm. I reckon Lofty can cover Uri's.
Dry - Lofty by5 or 6.
Wet - Lofty by 4, small guys just too damaging.

Looking forward to it. 2 teams that may only lose 1 each this year.
Interesting to see that hahndorf are only 1 win behind each of the undefeated teams, and play Lofty last game.

Lofty by a short margin either wet or dry.

I think that Sutherland will be to busy getting a kick to be concentrating on match ups etc. However Sutherland is a quality player and will rise to the challenge.
