Imagine what Hall would get if the same mob were adjudicating.

Stubbins scrubbed out for six

April 15, 2008 10:15am
ADELAIDE United FC assistant coach Phil Stubbins has been suspended for six Asian Champions League matches over comments made to a referee during the club's game in South Korea lat month.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) disciplinary committee handed down the tough penalty today.

Stubbins was reported by the referee over an incident after midfielder Jonas Salley was sent off just before half time in The Reds opening AFC Champions League 2008 match on March 12 against the Pohang Steelers in South Korea.

Adelaide United CEO Sam Ciccarello says the club has accepted the sanction against Stubbins and will not appeal the severity of the decision.

"Obviously we are disappointed with the penalty but we will accept the decision of the disciplinary committee and move forward," Mr Ciccarello said.

"They are the rules that the AFC has put into place so we will abide by them and just get on with trying to win the next three games and to qualify for the quarter final stage of this prestigious competition."

Stubbins has already served two of the six matches and will sit in the stands for the remainder of Adelaide United's matches in the group sStage and the first leg of the quarter final stage, if United progresses past the group phase.

The club has decided not to appeal, allowing Stubbins and head coach Aurelio Vidmar to focus on United's return match against Becamex Binh Duong at Hindmarsh Stadium next Wednesday (April 23).

totally off topic I know, but I got to watch the Swans v WCE. Disgrace by Hall, but did you see him crash into the advertising barrier. Cracked his head and commentary said he broke his wrist ?? Justice it would seem

He ended up getting 7 games for that, and will probably miss most of those 7 through injury anyway.

For saying something along the lines of "that's a shocking decision".

Was that all he said? 6 games is a hell of a lot for muttering a few words like that...

If a player went flying through with a two foot tackle they wouldn't even get 6 games I reckon.

I think that's what was said.
Maybe he was tongue in cheek when he said what his comments were, but I didn't take it that way.
