limb wrote:I remember early in the season last year we played Strath and I lined up at FF (very unfamiliar territory). Anyway within the first 5 mins I was given a free kick about 10 mins out straight in front. The excitement must have got to me because I dropped the ball awkwardly and kicked the ball the wrong side of the right goal post. For some reason the goal umpire didn't move from where he stood right between the big sticks so I started celebrating and found a team mate to 'high 5'. It must've been a convincing act because he showed the 2 fingers!

Although i didn't witness this Limb, i fair dinkum believe you as some of the Goal umpires in the lower grades are a fair dinkum joke as they think they can make every decision from the middle of the goals without having to move.
Also about the Free kick and dropping the ball awkwardly, Yep from what i've seen, just about sums up your football ability to a tee.

More numbers out now, about 35-40 on the track but will still struggle come round 1 keeping in mind they have lost 15-17 players from last years A grade which has now been promoted to div 1 and aren't fielding a C grade side this year either. Good side without being great so would be suprised if they don't get relegated.

See Chris Jurek has signed with Victor. What is going on at South? Surely with the numbers that have left the club he would be needed in 2008. Especially when you consider some who are getting a game in the 2s that are not in the same league as him. He will give Victor a real boost. Can they make the 5, see Barry Pilmore rates them as the team that will make it.

He will be a very good on-baller and sneak quiet a few goals for the roo's. With him, hodge and Saunders in the mid field they will be strong but will the have the power around the ground to keep up with other top sides? I dont beleive they will be very stong in defence or up forward, first game at the creek will be very interesting.
Anyone going to watch them play Norlunga tomorrow?

I would be guessing Jagen Hames will ruck a bit but loosing Daniel Maxwell could hurt them here. Also put Kym White on the ball and it is a very good mid field they have but defence looks weak and forward line has no big players, can they get awway with a young and small forward line?

Heard young levi Bell has been out at training and is in gd nick. Sure he will step up and kick a few for them if the ball gets delivered well. He kicked 7 in a game last year and looked promising

Saints played cove today and won by 7 points in a 4 quarter trial. Signs were really good but considering Compass smashed Cove there is still some work to be done. Better players for the Saints were Ferguson, Trent Griffen, Campbell and Brad Yeomans. The biggest disappointment for the day was the lack of interest in the b's who got slaughtered. The Saints will need to remain injury free to be competitive.
