if you go to the members icon at the top of the page, then click to page 40 and scroll to the bottom, there will be 2000 members and the newest member is The_FD

Actually doing some sorts on the member list shows that 671 have zero posts (assuming some of these just read the threads?)

So we seem to have only 1,329 contributing members

Plus another 388 have less than 10 posts

Still, around 1,000 regular contributors is great!!
