Damned if you, damned if you don’t

Can’t alter rules because an unexpected club gets relegated

The teams such as Glenelg who have a number of first class cricketers are at a distinct disadvantage over the minor round season.

Prospect and Southerns are permanently in the wilderness in division 2, numerous players who are B/C grade cricketers filling up their teams.

Doggett, Mc Sweeney, McInerney playing against C graders - why?

Good way to push cricket backwards in this state over the journey - change the rules around relegation quickly.

Winning the shield has got absolutely nothing to do with 2 divisions in grade cricket. It has all to do with changing the culture that existed within the Redbacks admin.

Struggle to see what Sturt have achieved today against WT, building a culture of failure with such a defensive attitude.

at the end of last year.......I was arguing this....my old club from years ago......relegated to the J grade division......and was howled down

got told rules are rules.....idiotic that my old mob are playing against blokes who cant play

Relegation only exists because SACA was too gutless to turf perennially under-performing grade clubs and raise the standard of the competition.

That would have been too logical

So instead we have a patented South Australian one way freeway solution

Sorry BL but the shield win had nothing to do with the 2 divisions. It was getting rid of an absolute dud coach and head of cricket which massively improved the culture of the place. I'm with Billy on this one (except the parts about Glenelg and Sturt).

Looks like all the One Day Cup games have got underway except for the game at University against WT. Good effort considering the rain that came in Friday afternoon.

There hasn't really been much happening in Premier cricket this season.
Clearly we need a West Torrens coach to complain about :D

The white ball formats finish up over the next couple of weeks, with each team playing 4 games in the 50-over grade to qualify for top 4 and 6 games in the T20 comp for top 4.

One Day Cup
Port 3-1
Sturt 3-1
Glenelg 2-1-1
West Torrens 2-0-1
Adelaide 2-1
Kensington 2-1
East Torrens 2-1
Tea Tree Gully 1-2
Woodville 1-2
Northerns 0-2-1
University 0-2-1
Southerns 0-3
Prospect 0-3

Final Round:
Sturt vs Port
East Torrens vs West Torrens
Kensington vs Woodville
Northerns vs Adelaide
Tea Tree Gully vs Prospect
Uni vs Southerns

A win to Sturt, Port or West Torrens sees them through.
Sturt or Port could still make it with a loss, West Torrens would be out.
East Torrens, Kensington and Adelaide could make it with a win depending on NRR.
If Kensington and Adelaide lose, Glenelg, with the bye, makes it through.

T20 Cup
West Torrens 5-1
East Torrens 4-0-1
Kensington 4-2
Sturt 4-2
TTG 3-2
Port 3-2
Glenelg 2-3
Prospect 2-3
Northerns 2-3
Woodville 2-3
Adelaide 1-4
Southerns 1-4
Uni 0-4

Final Round:
East Torrens vs Northerns
TTG vs Port
Uni vs Prospect
Adelaide vs Southerns
Woodville vs Glenelg

If East Torrens win they finish top, but they are already qualified regardless.
West Torrens (1st or 2nd) and Kensington (4th) already qualified.
Winner of TTG vs Port will take Sturt's place in the top 4 due to NRR, a tie or no result would see them both miss and Sturt retain their place.

Just the 3 rounds in for the 2-day comp, which resumes December 13.

Div 1
Kensington 60
Port 45
Sturt 35
Adelaide 25
__________
Woodville 20
East Torrens 15
__________
West Torrens 10
Tea Tree Gully 0

Div 2
Glenelg 60
Northerns 50
Southerns 40
__________
Uni 20
SACA U19 20
Prospect 0

SACA U19 20
Prospect 0

I'm not sure if this is accurate but I heard there is a change (unconfirmed) to the promotion/relegation this year?
Div 1 8th place/ 1st place Div 2 automatically relegated/promoted. Play off between 7th placed Div 1/runner up Div 2 for the final spot in Div 1 for next season?

Surely 7th spot would be automatic and 8th in the playoff?

On PlayHQ it still has a semi final listed on Sat Mar 21 & Sun Mar 29 (2nd vs 3rd)

Then the grand final with 1st vs semi final winner listed on Sat Mar 28 & Sun Mar 29

The weekend after that is Easter

Maybe it's just something that's been talked about but not implemented yet?

Would be a good change for Div 2
1st is automatically premier and gets promoted
2nd plays against 7th for the right to move up to Div 1 on semi final weekend

No finals in Div 2

No, bottom would automatically get relegated

7th gets a stay of execution by finishing higher

TTG have an English fast bowler starting this week. Assume he was taking Stathoris' spot so he headed elsewhere

Think he was sick of not being picked in the red ball games.
