The team has gauged plans to sign two imports, sources said: one in place of Harrell, and another who can operate as an injury replacement for Ben Griscti.

Vrenz Bleijenbergh - a 6'10 Belgian wing who was recently released from the South East Melbourne Phoenix - played with the 36ers for their exhibition game against Panathinaikos on Sunday and is an option the team has shown some interest in signing long-term, sources said, though nothing has eventuated in that regard.

But underwhelming

The Adelaide 36ers are delighted to announce the signing of versatile forward/centre Nick Rakocevic.

At 211cm, Rakocevic will bring size, energy and a strong presence to the Sixers front court.

Born in Chicago to Serbian migrant parents, Rakocevic came through University of Southern California where his rebounding and scoring ability were recognised.

The 27-year-old has spent much of his professional career in Asia, with stints in China and the Philippines, as well as time in Lebanon and most recently Puerto Rico.

Last season in China, he averaged 17.4 points, eight rebounds and 2.7 assists in 23 games for Ningbo Rockets.

Most recently, the Serbian Under 20 youth international also averaged 14 points and 8.1 rebounds per game in 21 matches with two teams in Puerto Rico.

“Nick is a legitimate four and at 6’11” he can also play as a five, which he has done in leagues around the world,” said General Manager of Basketball Operations Matt Weston.

“We know he can shoot the three and that he will help us rebound and stretch the floor.

“We think he’ll not only complement our playing group both on the court and culturally but also bring a real spark that our fans will love.”

I would imagine that he is the Gristci replacement rather than Harrell.
