As stated many times before, this is West’s real issue, they are not generating anywhere near enough revenue to being close to sustainable. To make matters worse, they effectively dont have any assets.

This is incorrect, they are the only club I know that owns their clubrooms.

I must admit I thought they sold them, but the deal with the Wolfpack was a loan, transferring the club’s bank loan to the Wolfpack, who then lent the same amount back to the club.

I don't know how much, if any of that loan from the Wolfpack has been cleared.

So I’ll need to correct my previous statement about debt/loans.

Glenelg’s venue/clubrooms are on their balance sheet as assets. Like other clubs, these are classed as leasehold improvements on the council owned land.

Suggestions to help struggling clubs
1. A creative SANFL funded marketing campaign targeting schools and kids plus sponsors, with goals set re attendances and sponsorship
2. Interest free loan to pay out existing debt, with a condition being SANFL oversight of all expenditure
The aim of point 2 is to even up recruiting opportunity across the clubs, if the clubs can show they have sufficient cash flow
The above ideas would cost SANFL, and I have no idea of the financial position of the SANFL
Also in MSD Adelaide & Port should be restricted to recruiting from SANFL clubs, with players drafted to train with AFL clubs but play with SANFL clubs unless selected in AFL teams (for the remainder of the year) .
Yes, may not be even across AFL clubs, but a very minor issue if MSD is used to replace injured players

I think the SANFL has lost interest in looking after the SANFL teams and competition. They care not how many wooden spoons west or south have won, yet jump in with giving AFL reserves teams ridiculous concessions.
You can see in the SANFL annual report, their concern is for gather round, and somehow outlaying $25m on a "high performamance", facility for u16s and u18s.

He's had his go surely, a lot of player turnover every year. He churns through the players.

South v Crowserves @ Noarlunga, Powerserves v West @ Alberton, WWT v Centrals @ Woodville - combined total for these games will be lucky to exceed 4k.
Probably only get 3-4k at The Bay, whilst Monday at Unley should see 5-6k.
