100TH ANNIVERSAY FOR 3 CLUBS, VFL/AFL
Footscray, Hawthorn , North Melbourne were all admitted into the VFL comp in 1925
Prahran was favoured to join the comp, however North Melbourne ended up in the VFL instead

NM won their first round game in the VFL in beating GE
NM finished 10th in the 12 team comp at seasons end
It was quite a remarkable first up win by NM , as GE ended up winning the 2025 Premiership
It was also a first Premiership win for GE in the VFL

FO + HW both lost their round 1 games

GWS younger, faster, fitter. Collingwoods backline looks suspect.

Midfield looked slow, but then you normally do when you're getting beaten

Brisbane’s Lincoln McCarthy has suffered another ruptured ACL on the same right knee that saw him miss 2024

Essendon is pleased to announce that Senior Coach Brad Scott has agreed to a contract extension which will see him lead the Club until at least the end of 2027.

Why?

It’s bizarre but I’m guessing that now they some stability on the board at last and a clear plan they want some stability on the coaching side of things.
I would have waited but that’s just me

I'm not saying he's done a bad job at Essendon, but I would've thought you wait until next year to make this sort of call. Interesting, he's currently coached the third most V/AFL matches without any of them being a grand final - and isn't far behind the top two.

I think we are seeing a small shift in clubs trusting their appointments to 'see out the job', rather than going down the lottery path of chop changing coaches.

Will be interesting to see if there is also some sort of succession plan for the end of 2027 with a current staff member taking the reins then.
