They already successfully run winter T20 comps featuring large amount of players from clubs within PDCA.

If someone had the balls to form a break away comp - I fear it would spell the death of PDCA.

There is probably some money to be made in an extremely well run/ organized / consistent cricket comp.

I ran an independent one for a few years that was a huge financial success for all the clubs involved, I actually had a waiting list for clubs that wanted in if I wanted to expand it or clubs bailed.

It was great, a double header at each venue and quite often there ended up being a 3rd game for any spectators that brought their gear long.

Was that the old Sunday comp.....

Was a blast back in the day. You nailed the timing of it, was what people exactly wanted at that time as an offset to what was a pretty serious PDCA right down to div 5 and 6 back then.

Yep, it was just as T20 starting becoming in vogue, we introduced the coloured tops, pink balls, it was played every week and we got decent crowds in each round.

Each club got the chance to host a day and it was a rule that eeach club governed their own supporters to not bring your own piss and the host club would do discounted drinks.

We made $4-$5K every time we hosted it. More importantly, it brought all the clubs together, it was great standing around a table with blokes from all different clubs wearing their club shirts having a few froffies.

Yeah 100%

You kind of feel the time for a breakaway comp or an alternative comp to the PDCA is pretty bang on as it seems the level of engagement is at an all time low.

Grade 1 - seems that the ATCO, Craigmore and North Pines are making up numbers, but Angle Vale the clear cut favorite for this year. Hazara have hit the ground running though and look a contender, but there again in the mix is Salisbury West once more.

LO1 - the inclusion of Freeman and return of Knapp has Units making their move - if they make the 4 it's game on. Massive game this week against Dublin who have got the wobbles in recent weeks. Parafield Gardens around the mark again, but Adelaide Union are looking the dark horse.

Lyndon Woods is a massive loss for Dublin. It’s a long season and Premierships are not won in November. Will be interesting to see who is winning games in round 14, depth wins premierships.

Credit must be given to the 3 clubs you mentioned about making up the numbers, they were a long way off the pace last season and they're sticking it out in Grade 1 again despite the odds.

FWIW, I think ATCO are better than their performances, Craigmore lack venom with their bowling and have batters that get starts but then let themselves down, I'm happy to concede that I know sweet FA about The Pines.

Probably end up with a 4 team grade playing soley one-dayers, it's the only fair analysis.

From all reports, Matt Marsden and the Parafield boys have been in the cricket nets since last Saturday at about 5pm still in their whites trying to work on their bowling craft and won’t stop until they redeem themselves.. Go home fellas, your families miss you and it’s just a game :)

a) f**k him still.
b) looks 50, moves like he's 60.
c) why couldn't he make runs at Enfield?
d) North Pines U12's would beat their LO1 side.
e) Congrats Creedy, still a big 100! =D>
f) refer back to point (a)
