Good

-Obviously winning the BGT and in doing so making the WTC final
-Head continued his brilliant recent form early in the series. Has 100% found his way in test cricket. Konstas could do worse then spend some time with Trav
-Carey arguably his most complete series as test cricket and also against a gun opposition. Kept really well and an average of 30 which probably doesn’t justify the form he was in. No pressure on his spot these days
-Konstas, controversial but we’ve all wanted selectors to play some youth, they finally have done it and a 60 on debut was the first Aussie teenager in almost two decades to do so. A pair of 20’s in the final test is probably better than it appears.
-Boland, just build him a statue and play him every test.
-Cummins, great series with bat and ball, captaincy was pretty decent as well
-Smith, got to see 2 centuries which could be the last we see. Has been a privilege.
-Webster, great debut and a bright future ahead. Love what he brings to the lineup.

Bad
-Khawajas’ form, he plays spin well but does he deserve to be in Sri Lanka
-Marshs form, probably seen the last of him given Websters performance and Green to come back.
-The couple of injuries to Hazelwood, how long has he got left.
-That Bumrah couldn’t bowl in the last innings. Takes the smallest piece of shine of the win.

Ugly
-The selectors handling of McSweeney
-The batting lines up reliance on individual brilliance from innings to innings rather than a consistent line up
-Kohlis behaviour. Bumping into a bloke is 100% crossing the line in anyone’s language.
-The divisiveness Konstas batting is going to bring to cricket media for the next 5 years. Tall poppy syndrome in full swing. We like our future stars quiet and in a corner. Not brash young and full of confidence.
-The gap between Starcs best and worst. It’s him though and his best is world class.

Comprehension is not your strong point is it? No one has said we want him sitting in a corner being a shrinking violet.

None of the grumpy old man have complained about his positive attacking cricket or that he has a chat

We’ve complained about his lack of game awareness of when to be attacking and when you have a chat

He needs to be smart about his positive play and chat. That will allow him to be a more effective cricketer scoring 50s and 100s not 10s and 20s

He won’t last averaging under 30 in test cricket,

We want him to succeed as he has talent, your post shows that you just want him for entertainment value and a trivia question in 10 years time as the bloke who could’ve been but never was.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Some good banter over the 5 test series, and great contributions from many.

Time to put together the SAFooty team of the series, for contribution on here.

I'll start with a couple of suggestions.

1. Whufc - open the batting with the exuberance and youth that we need. We know he will keep swinging, regardless how its going!
2.
3. Mal (Capt) - SA Footy's Don. Picks himself to anchor the top order.
4.
5.
6. Locky801 - big hitting middle order bat and part time noodler. Most consistent, 2nd picked every time.
7.
8.
9. Dedja - bats 9 and doesn't bowl, but chirps away at Point all day (and occasionally makes a good point)
10.
11. The Dark Night - dependable, honest, can bowl with spark or hold up an end all day if needed.

12th.

Over to you.,...
