Mt Osmond, this is seriously a private course? We had a member with us that hadn’t been there for a few months & was visibly embarrassed. I get reno’s to club houses, temp greens, this shit happens. The rest of the joint, terrible. Fairways sketchy, greens so inconsistent & patchy. Goat track.
Saturday rained out, ended up drinking 10% stout at the Uraidla Hotel…
Sunday, Aston Hills. Course in excellent nick, fairways nice & open & greens spot on. It’s a little bit up & down but a really well kept course.

Headed back to Adelaide over Christmas break.

Will get a few rounds in with Corona Junior.

Royal Oakbank, where he is a member. Then Aston Hills. I always enjoy getting back for a hit at my old home course. Great to hear it’s in good order.

Sounds like all Mt Osmond has at the moment is the views from the 9th.... when it's not foggy

Only played Mt Osmond once and that was in summer, like any course with a bit of elevation this time of year can be a challenge until the grass really starts growing.

Drove down HV Drive this week and looked like they were top dressing the Flaggy Greens. Was looking to have a casual hit there is a couple of weeks and see they have put up their green fees quite significantly

Blackwood

11.30 start.
Pea souper. Drizzly rain.
All cleared up after 8-9 holes.
They give stimpmeter readings out on notice board. 10.5 this morning. Practice greens were quick. On course some were fast and others seemed slow.

Ended 34pts.

Back there tomorrow with reciprocal card given, AS Dutchy mentioned Flaggy cored the greens this week

$70

Vines tonight, 18pts / 47 played pretty ordinary but scraped together some points after having 1 after the first 2 holes.

That's a bit steep. It's not worth that price.

Blackwood this morning
Par - you beauty, guaranteed 18points

Played better than yesterday

But
Driver now fades/slices. I played with that today and didn't fight it.
Greens were slow. And it killed me.
Finished even after being 2 down through 9 and 3 down after 11

Having the Monday off before Cup Day.

Booked golf at Club Mandalay on a great deal. 4 Players in Shared carts - $37.25 each. The booking didn't mention the post round drink, as often stated on SEN. Find out on the day I guess.

I have played here before, but will put up a report on our day.

Hoping for calm conditions, if its windy, it will be a handful.

Got out for the back 9 at the Vines last night, pretty horrible golf, Driver let me down, not hitting one fairway

Managed to scramble my way to 16pts (47) with a par on the last which probably wasn't too bad considering I was in trouble on every hole off the tee.

How is the irrigation work coming along?

Nearly done, heard it went over budget by $300k.

Haven't see it on yet but with the $'s they have spent you would hope they are the best fairways in the state after this (they are already pretty good).

It already is the best conditioned course down south. This upgrade will cement that title

Twilight

Driver stayed home
3w was club of choice.
1st shot was magnificent. Only hit 1 pull/hook with it so that's a win.
13points was fairly average.
Greens recovered well from coring and are just so quick compared to Blackwood last week.

Did they do the heavy coring at Flaggy, or just the small pin prick type? Greens haven't been touched at the Vines, would have thought if they were going to do it then it would have happened by now.

Looked like it was heavy coring. But recovered quick.
Vines I think still have the machine that basically allows you to play on it asap.
Did they push club champs back due to the works?

Yeah the small coring machine is pretty good, we played one day when they were doing it and it was still very playable event straight after. The works have been going on for 6+ months but don't think it stopped anything other than the occasional hole out of action, but they have a spare now 16a like Flaggy.
