Casual employed last week came to me Friday asking if he can do 7-3 three days a week and 9-5 two days a week so he can go to his personal training sessions in the mornings. Oh, and it'll vary from week to week depending on his trainers schedule.

He is "casual".
It's an epidemic atm that doesn't fluctuate between age or gender.
A casual last week had two days off and then came to see if he could leave early on the day he returned as he still wasn't feeling great, he proceeded to tell me the viscosity of his stools from the previous day when I interrupted him and told him to just go and take the rest of the week off.

Given the present state of the job market, does one acquiesce to these demands or does one tell him to get on his bike? Serious question.

Did you tell him to get his $hit together?
I had one lazy **** work for me about 10 years ago
His father worked for the company so he thought he was bullet proof
Used to turn his puter off at 4.50pm so he could get a flying start out the door so I got everyone to give him work at 4.51 to be done today.
Was 2 hours late one morning because the electricity went off and his alarm clock reset.... Yeah mate - you 20+ year olds use them.
I asked his father whether he came in with him this morning "no - he didn't come home last night"
Always taking sickies on Tuesday - come down Tuesday
Always sent texts even though he was required to call
He had one Tuesday off because he was on his deathbed - came in on Wednesday with a new haircut - not the sharpest tool in the shed
He eventually got the bullet and was unemployed because word had got around in a small close industry.
Eventually his father moved companies and junior got another job as part of the deal

I gave him the news that the hours are 8-4 Monday to Friday as per his contract.
He left on his own accord at 10:03 am.
