Wow, what a relief and great win. Both teams had their chances. Behind the Central goals they thought no way was Gaspers kick touched in the last quarter. Glad it didn't matter. Kendell (best last week) and Presbury both out will be big outs, so makes the win more important. Howe did well again in the ruck, improving each week. Beau Thomas showing hhe can become a very good player (I think he played in the u18 state game)..

Centrals waited until the 15 minute mark of the last quarter to decide they wanted to win the game, and got the rewards.

That last 10 minutes was outstanding from Centrals.

While the Eagles never gave up, they were their own worst enemy in front of goals in the last quarter.

Not the prettiest game but you take the win to finally snap the losing streak
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Felt like last week all over again with us looking like we would lose a game we should win.
Grace with 1.3 from 7 shots summed up our finishing.
Meanwhile Ballenden at the other end was hurting us
In the end it was the Eags who missed a couple of genuine chances and we come up with a vital W.

Jezza and Iles were superb down back, and Grant (6 wins from 6 starts this season) was ably supported by Liddy, Dittmar, Barry and Jai Larkins in easily his best game at League level. Schiller keeps on contributing.
Beau Thomas (just turned 20) and Harvey Howe (19) are two bigs with plenty of upside.

Very pleasing to get a win at Woodville against a very good side
To only hold them to 3 goals after qtr time was great.
Agree that was the best game Beau Thomas has played and hopefully he gains confidence from that.
Young Harvey Howe continues to show improvement.
Hopefully Prez & George wont be out to long with their calf & hammy injuries respectively.

U dogs!!!!

Tough game and happy to walk away with the win.

How important is Harry Grant back in the midfield. Harvey Howe growing into his ruck role nicely. Centrals defence was solid today led by McLennan Iles Kendall, I thought Posthuma played his best game for the club.

A hard slog in perfect conditions. Both defences stood tall. Both sides missed opportunities. The Eagles went from 4.1 in the 1st to finish the game 7.12.

I think Weckert, Wheare and Beattie had 1 kick between them to 3/4 time and Pearce was non-effective also. Only Ballenden looked dangerous up forward.

A gutsy win for Central, who only hit the front in the latter half of the last quarter, but remained in touch all day and took their opportunities to kick goals late, while Williams and McKay missed a couple of absolute sitters, both choosing to not use a simple drop punt.

A missed opportunity to open up a bit of a gap in the top 3, undoing the good work of last week.

'Dogs led five times but, granted, all but one of those were relatively cameo.

Team stats at the end of the game remarkably similar with the telling one IMHO being CD having 20 more tackles, showing their desperation to want the win. We didn't have too many easy kicks today. Scrappy affair with both sides missing chances. 2 gift wrapped chances missed by the Eags in the last quarter may have made a difference but thought on the whole we were outplayed.

Isaiah Dudley's value to his team can't be overstated. Out-positioned surrounding opponents and backed his ability in foiling at least two promising forward plays by the home team when the game could have gone either way in the closing minutes.

If he got fair dinkum (physically) he wouldn’t be in this league.

Can play!

Needs to speak to Willie Rioli who did the hard yards in 2016 and got himself to a level aerobically that got him drafted.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Question for Eagles fans why is Lukac playing reserves like the look of him as a player. Hes very mobile for his size and looks a good player .

He's only young but to date has struggled to find a particular position to own. As a ruckman he is slightly too short and anytime he does get his hand to the ball it's not a dominant tap that directs it to our players. Around the ground as a ruck he doesn't do enough in terms of taking marks or gathering possessions. He has got slightly better over the last 12 months but is still not at the level required. The alternative is to play him as a key forward - that is where he played State U18s. He was effective at that level because he was playing against other kids who weren't as physically developed. However at league level he is too slow to play as a key position and has yet to show he can take a contested grab.

Eagles supporters were hoping he would have reached the level to play in our league team this year but this has not eventuated which is part of the reason we had to make the emergency call to bring Redden out of retirement.

I'm willing to wait another 12 months on him before making the call on whether he will make it or not.
