I’d even have him coaching the Redbacks next year as Dizzy hasn’t improved the system one bit.

I dare say he's zero chance while Time Nielsen is still in charge. :?

Sadly, think you are spot on. SACA would need a clean out and start a fresh with Neilson/Gillespie gone. Then he may stand a chance. He was bowling coach for Redbacks back when they were playing in Finals (even though they lost two in a row). Unfortunately, he is too outspoken and not a "Yes man" so ruffled too many feathers at SACA. Why they will never go anywhere till there is massive change.

wedgetail wrote:Another outstanding win by West Torrens. Harrity's finals winning record is phenomenal. Hunt and Buckingham set up the win taking 4 early wickets. Glenelg thereafter were always under pressure to get a defendable score. Torrens seem to have the wood over Glenelg in finals and there must be a few mental demons around the Bays playing West Torrens, with the Eagles winning the last 4 grand Finals they have played against Glenelg. Harry Neilsen had his best innings since returning to the club and it couldn't have come at a more fitting time.
A rare chance at the Triple Crown is now in the Eagles hands, only performed once before, by West Torrens in 2016/17. Two decisive 2-day games await. Torrens will need to do it without Sean Hunt and Patrick Brown who both return to England next Sunday/Monday. Also, reliable all-rounder Dan Fallins is highly unlikely to play due to work commitments. A test of the Eagles depth.

Too many quality players out for the last Minor Round game, lucky they got that 2 day win against Glenelg as would have been in danger of relegation. Bizarre situation having won the two flags up for grabs so far

No Hunt, Brown, Fallins - Buckingham be with Redbacks, Spencer be getting ready for IPL. Chuck in no Capel, probably no Drew as he was not in great space yesterday and probably should not have played.

Depleted team - be lucky to make Finals. If by chance they do would need to play Uni as they will be hopeless with all their Poms out. Can't win flag without good spinner, Kelvin the only option and not that great. Pointon maybe comes up but again not at that level.

Would be Hags greatest achievement of the lot if does the Triple Premiership for second time from here!!

Apparently Sturt and Southern's have shook hands and decided no need to play day 2 of their fixture as it has no impact.on standings after day 1 scores.

Correct - don't think that is the case. Pretty sure they have to play at least until lunch? Umpires would also miss a day's pay! Having said that, Sturt are in Division 1 next year. Can't be knocked off minor premier.

Just looking at the ladder on Play HQ, I see WT have been deducted 2 points. Is that a mistake or is there a reason for it?

Must be the first team penalised this year for slow over rates. You lose one point for every over if slow, so they must have been two overs down. Assume maybe the Glenelg game that Peter George did. You are allowed to be three overs down before in trouble, most teams make up the time when warned, but WT have no spinner currently so would have had to bowl Kelvin a bit to catch up.

This will be very, very costly. Their good percentage is now useless. Will cost finals spot potentially.

Is it just bottom team down to Div 2 or bottom 2?

Ironic, given it was a deliberate slow over rate which cost West Torrens a Grand Final spot last year.

And ironically even though they have brought in tough new rules, finals are still the same so maybe WT can get back at Kensy this year

The penultimate round has been run and won.

Tea Tree Gully’s lower order put up a fight with the bat, but fell about 30 runs short of East Torrens 251.

Woodville held on until the last over, fighting for a draw and some vital points against ladder leaders Glenelg, but Glenelg struck in the last over of the day to get back on the winners list and secure the minor premiership.

West Torrens easily chased down Kensington’s 196 to most likely make finals.

Port destroyed Uni, but couldn’t quite manage to finish with the outright.

The ladder after Round 9

Glenelg 145
West Torrens 98
University 85
Port 75
———————
Kensington 70
East Torrens 65
———————-
Tea Tree Gully 60
Woodville 49

Round 10
Uni vs TTG
Wood vs WT
Glen vs Kens
Port vs ET

Mathematically…

Glenelg finish top.
West Torrens most likely make finals, but could still finish 5th.
Woodville can’t make finals, but could avoid relegation if they win and results go their way. The 1 point over-rate penalty could prove costly.
The rest of the teams could make finals and can still be relegated, making for an interesting final round.

My tip for finals: Glenelg, West Torrens, Port, Uni.
Relegation: Woodville & East Torrens

Not as close in Div 2. Sturt by far the best side and will be in Div 1 next season. Northerns & Adelaide will play each other to decide the other team promoted. Southerns struggling. Not sure if SACA U19’s have gained anything from having a team in Div 2? Prospect rock bottom once again.

That’s crazy. Should be runs penalties within the game and that should be the case all the way up to Test cricket.

Temperatures forecast to be in the 30s all week and weekend this week. It will be very interesting to see if there's any "creativity" with the pitch preparations this week for teams to try to avoid relegation (a la the Woodville greentop in Round 13 last year when it hadn't rained for 2 weeks   ).

West Torrens are worried about this scenario, being sent in on a green top

Woodville may be in all sorts with their batting line up though, apparently Adlam did a hammy and Vadja may have been reported and has suspended sentence, so they will be very much a 2nd Grade line up. WT lost Brown, Hunt, Buckingham and Fallins so their bowling line up be 2nd Grade also!

Still five clubs could be relegated going into last round, have to say the two Divisions has worked with all games vital.

Uni safe in 3rd but could still miss finals.

Port would be stiff to go down if they lose as need Kensy and TTG to win also, possible, but highly unlikely.

East Torrens could play finals or be relegated.

Doubt Redbacks players available on Saturday as be flying to Tassie, and most Poms be on way home now also.

Makes for interesting long weekend!
