There is an old saying in the Hogg that no Bunny is left behind! For all creatures not so great but small, Hogg V is the league for you. We don't play for sheep stations down here but there is still a premiership and the glory of promotion to be won!

Gingernuts has put in a strong contender for the ‘what the hell is he doing down here’ award after a powerful performance in the first round of Hogg V action this week. All we can say to Cam is that things will get easier for his Wonders. Port Plop floated to the top but only because the unmanned craft played against our resident yank and strong favourite for the Mighty Eagles Memorial Tropy, Strawb and his Wingy Royals. A great start to the season from PowerFailute, Strongy D and also Biker Babes as well with SKZ one of the biggest flops from the first round..well, apart from Zach Fischer.

If you are carding 2000 this week you’ve got a decent side and two teams have established themselves as heavy hitters in this division by reaching that tally on the weekend. Hampstead Hawks opened their account in truly brutal style, winning by over a thousand points! That is normally a rare feat but Biker Babes Best rode roughshod over the Wingy Royals as they won by a thousand as well. That’s some serious percentage there which will prove vital considering as 18 into 8 is a pretty tight squeeze. Strongy D’s, The Knights and Fine Wines all remain unbeaten but strangely enough the four teams on the bottom actually have ‘active’ coaches unlike Autopick Allstars and Port Plop who have managed to win a game.

Scores were down with the Suns and Giants not there and the team that lost the most weight was predictably, Giants Legends who phoned in more donuts than Homer Simpson in a heavy defeat to the league leaders Biker Babes who rode roughshod over them. What appears to be the ‘big four’ of this league all won through in fine style with the year’s big improver Strongy D’s laying a very solid platform for a finals assault last year. I don’t think Strongman will be stuck down here for too long as he carded the top score for the round. Another big improver this week were the Jellyz who have traded away the crud and are starting to build a decent side. They had to overcome a Blues filled Benno’s Beasts who were flat out racking up the points against the Roos.

Most of the top sides got the job done in Division V action last weekend with the notable exception of former ladder leaders The knights. The knights were slain by the mighty Ginger Ninjas who stormed into the top eight on the back of a 39 point win. The runners and the also rans are getting sorted fairly early this year but a shout out to Strawb who is a lock for the Mighty Eagles award for season 2024. Nice work Yank!

SKZ pulled off the upset of the round as they defeated the previously unbeaten Fine Wines who took a tumble to third spot on the ladder. The Knights got back to the top with a fine return to form as they slaughtered PowerFailure. West Coast Wonders and The Ginger Ninjas also scored well and both sides are comfortably sitting in the top eight. The biggest flops of the round were Biker Babes Best who couldn’t beat the unmanned Autopick Allstars while Cellar Dwellers were sunk by bottom for Bennos’ Beasts who gleefully scooped up the points.
