For comparison, Darwin expects a rainfall event of 51mm in 1 hour, once per year.

This got me looking at rain records. Reunion Island recorded 1825mm in a 24 hour period in 1966 and Holt, Missouri recorded 304mm in 42 minutes in 1947.

I had a look last night if there was a cyclone up North, usually only happens when one of them is on the move.
