Talk is that a club has put in a request to change the section 10 competition to exclusively one day cricket. I don't think we should be looking to alter the integrity of a section. If short form is the preference, there are 3 T20 divisions ready to be filled.

I've pitched a suggested change to the schedule in the past and it does seem that it will continue to be a point of conjecture. Anyone have any ideas?
Yup Fitzroy officially gone to PDCA.

Apparently it is Flagstaff Hill pushing for one day games in Section 10.

Proposed to have big fines in place if a club nominates a team and then pulls out partway in to the season

I'm a section 10 player, and I'm against changing the format.

Well considering they are one of the clubs who pulled a team out last season

As much as I would like us to just be playing one day cricket exclusively I don't want to see our competition compromised because one team in Section 10 just wants to play one day cricket.
Our competition is fair and equal with the 7 and 7 format and is one of the competitions strengths IMO.

I think if you want to play one day cricket, go find a comp that is solely that.

I love the format that ASCA offers. Have always played 2 day cricket in previous comps involved in

I think the current format is ideal.
Gives everyone a bit of variety.
But to be taken seriously, if you're going to propose a motion at the AGM, at least get the Associations name right.

Agreed with Keefy. There are many options available for those who want to play exclusively one day cricket. Preserving longer format cricket is something the ASCA executive should prioritise.

Well, the yearly merry go round of club's not wanting to be promoted, despite being premier's is about to begin.

The AGM should be fun.

I reckon Warradale will be in favour of the one day competition.

Interesting, what information makes you think this or are you just making it up as you go along?

We haven't even discussed what sections our teams will be in as a committee yet and more than likely our grades will just play where the association put us (which should be 2, 4 and 7).

So who has details on the section 1 club who is wanting to move down, and the 3 section 2 sides who don’t want to go up? It sounded like a section 3 side was also not willing to shuffle up the grades either.

Very steep suggestion for Sutton-Derby to join the competition and immediately be placed in to Section 1 based on talk of where some of their players have played in the past.

How can we find out how many games you have played in the comp?

No idea what records the association has kept prior to MyCricket but if you played pre that era I'd say you're out of luck unless the club keeps its own records. Between MyCricket and then PlayHQ there wouldn't be a single source anywhere.

We built our own database 15 odd years ago, without it we'd be screwed.

Another thing that is apparent after last nights AGM is that there will continue to be a review in to the viability of the 7+7 Saturday format. The format continues to be voted in year on year, but the last few years an alternate has been presented and voted upon at the AGM.

I've taken a bit of time to break down a way that I believe the association could look like in coming years, leveraging the ATCA format of all two day cricket for one side of their competition, and all limited overs for another.

I've taken the ladders from the previous season (I've probably left some clubs/sides in that may not actually be around for this season, I'm sure they could be replaced by other sides that will be around), and come up with 6 8 team Two Day sections:

S1
Coromandel Ramblers
Sheidow Park
ICC Sharks
Western Youth Centre
Keswick
Coromandel
Plympton Footballers
Port Noarlunga

S2
Cove
Morphettville Park
North Haven
Mitchell Park
Kenilworth
Happy Valley
Sutton-Derby
St John's OS

S3
Phantoms
Port Noarlunga II
Cove II
Keswick II
Coromandel II
Coromandel Ramblers II
Sheidow Park II
ICC Sharks II

S4
Southern
Adelaide Falcons
Plympton Footballers II
North Haven II
South Road
Morphettville Park II
Western Youth Centre II
South Park

S5
Happy Valley II
Kenilworth II
Southern Warriors II
ICC Sharks III
Mitchell Park II
Morphettville Park III
Adelaide Lutheran II
Phantoms II

S6
Kenilworth III
Coromandel IV
Sheidow Park IV
Grand Masters II
North Haven III
Mitchell Park IV
Warradale II
Flagstaff Hill II

Playing dates would be as follows (just using 2023/24 dates as an example of how it could work):

07/10 & 14/10
21/10 & 28/10
11/11 & 18/11
25/11 & 02/12
09/12 & 16/12
06/01 & 13/01
03/02 & 10/02
17/02 & 24/02
02/03 & 03/03

FINALS
09/03 & 10/03
16/03 & 17/03
23/03 & 24/03

Along with this, we would have two 12 team Limited Overs sections:

LO1
Ceylon Strikers
Flagstaff Hill
Warradale
Sheidow Park III
Coromandel III
Coromandel Ramblers III
Morphett Vale
Grand Masters
Mitchell Park III
Southern Warriors
Afghan
Keswick III

LO2
Morphettville Park IV
Southern II
ICC Sharks IV
Sheidow Park V
Plympton Footballers III
Port Noarlunga III
Coromandel V
Happy Valley III
South Road II
Western Youth Centre III
Coromandel Ramblers IV
Mitchell Park V

Playing dates would be as follows:

07/10
14/10
21/10
28/10
11/11
18/11
25/11
02/12
09/12
16/12
06/01
13/01
03/02
10/02
17/02
24/02

FINALS
09/03
16/03
17/03

Our T20 competition could run alongside these comps and run on the below dates:

04/11
07/11
14/11
21/11
28/11
05/12
12/12
19/12

FINALS
20/01
21/01

This format allows for a few weekends of Saturday cricket off, or that can be filled by T20 fixtures (which is something that had been flagged by a number of clubs as a painpoint). Fixture allows for every team to play eachother atleast once, and I believe after each team has faced once the fixture could be TBA and arranged so those teams that are close to eachother on the ladder could then be scheduled to face off and add stakes to later season matches.

I think this could be a viable option, rather than just having the lower sections become one day cricket. Some clubs may rather opt to have their top side play one day cricket and field their second team in the lower two day competitions.

Cross section slashing may need to become a requirement to make this work aswell, but would need to cross that bridge if it came to it.

Just putting another idea out there in the ether. Let's see if this one cops a bit more feedback from you lads!

New club that was founded by a self-proclaimed legend of cricket. Check out their Facebook page, i've never seen more self-love and admiration in my life. Good luck to them.

I think they will be wanting to use a ground at Victoria Park
