Ashes 2027.

I am getting in early.

Mrs C & I planned to go over to see some Ashes cricket soon after we were married, and before we had kids. It never happened.

Our Wedding day, was during the 1989 Ashes series. Midway through the 6th Test of that series at the Oval.

So 4 years out, I am starting the plans on what a trip to England & European trip may look like.

Fly to London, take in the test at the Rose Bowl - Southampton. A few days sightseeing in London. I did that 40 odd years ago, but I was a teenager then.

Over to Dublin, I'd like to play some golf there. Then back to London & the train through the Tunnel to Paris. Take in some Tour De France, before heading down to Rome for a look. Home via Dubai & Singapore sounds good.

If I am not semi retired by 2027, I will be bloody close too. We want to do one Europe trip - this one. Then when retired a USA trip. The key being do it before we get too bloody old.

4 years to stash some coin, and line it all up.

You're sorted, now what does the Mrs want to do

When my mum & dad come over and say "we're going away this weekend" I reply "where" knowing it can be only one of two things, the response is always a "Quorn Cup" or "Clare Races" or "Warnambool Races" or "Geelong v Port at GMHBA"

My wife loves cricket. She also likes watching the golf and the cycling so I’m a lucky bloke.

Paris and Rome are bucket list things for both of us too.

Having been to both a few times I can fully understand.
I’ve been to test matches in England but never against Australia so an Ashes tour is my bucket list

FMD if England put as much effort in to their Test Cricket preparation as they put in to their hysterical and delusional spin to their media then they would be unbeatable. You could seriously write a book on the shit that’s coming out of their camp over the last 2 months. Winning 4 tosses at home and consistently by luck getting the best of the bowling conditions at Test level and still can’t beat a touring party that haven’t beaten you in 22 years on home soil. Send these dickheads to India where they can get flogged 4-0 on pitches that turn sideways on day 1.

Agreed some of its way to much. I don't mind us being being confident but we didn't take certain moments in the first two tests and Australia did so they deserve to be in the lead. The toss thing is overrated though, these aren't the usual English pitches there all pretty flat and toss doesn't make a huge difference. I suspect Cummins would have batted a couple of times anyway.

The positive to me is we are playing smarter cricket now and with Wood being the X factor we should be confident in being able to win at the oval. Instead of talking we should just focus on winning at the oval and showing we are a much improved side.

Be fascinating to see who's left on both sides. We obviously won't have Jimmy or Broady. Wood may be done, Mo certainly won't be there or Woakes. We will desperately need Archer and Stone fit.

For you Warner is gone, but will Khawaja, lyon, starc and co be there in there late 30s? Probably be Smiths swansong to

Could it be possible for Spencer Johnson to take over from Mitchell Starc as the left arm fast bowler? Is he there yet?? I guess we'll only know if he gets some opportunities. I'd also like to see the Aussies have someone like Lance Morris, a genuinely quick fast bowler in the team to ruffle feathers with raw pace.

In a little bit of fairness to him from an Australian players point of view there would be a fair bit of difference between the feeling of retaining the Ashes with a drawn series vs winning the Ashes 2-1, 3-1 i would imagine.

To win the first English Ashes in 20+ years would be pretty significant for the Aussie playing group.

I am quite bewildered by just about everything being said from the England camp over this series. It seems like they are love drunk over Bazball. I like attacking, positive aspects in any sport. But I also know a champion team adapts and wins accordingly to every situation games throw up. If it means grinding it out when it's needed, then it's done.

Or maybe it's because they actually are scared of losing (or thought they probably will to start with), so to mask this, the whole 'entertainment', 'moral victory', 'we would have won if it weren't for the rain' sort of lines are just an attempt to cover up shortcomings. I'm pretty sure their ex-cricketers can see through it, though. Not sure a lot (not all, but a lot) of their fans do.
