I really don't get the Aussie hatred for this legend, he has always struck me as a genuine hard worker that just goes about his craft, I have enormous amount of respect for the sportsman that he is, his longevity as a fast bowler is a testament to himself.

Maybe slightly unfairly i probably put him in a similar category to Warner. He's absolutely in the greats discussion but his away record averaging 30.45 per wicket with a strike rate of 64 probably has him a bit behind some of the other great bowlers we've seen. (eg McGrath was 22 home/21 away).

In saying that its probably the nature of being a genuine swing bowler in which you do need some favorable conditions. Could be the greatest genuine swing bowler ever. Depends on if you consider Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Richard Hadlee swing bowlers.

Akram is in a class of his own IMO.

Hadlee/McGrath are the two best seamers I've seen, the seemed to bowl faster than what they actually bowled the way they bamboozled the batters.

Younis revolutionized the reverse swing, coupled with his sheer pace he was often unplayable, lucky for the cricket world he was only 6 foot tall.

His average would be inflated due to how poor he was early in his career away from home. He's been our best bowler away from home for the last decade and I'd say his average if you just looked over that period away from home would be much better then 31.
