11 overs short with an extra half hour. I feel Warner accounted for 30 minutes of lost play which they must take into account. That said the South Africans dawdled.
Should a player be allowed to retire due to fatigue?

Playing 2nd fiddle to Chuck Norris wouldn’t help his cause, he is slower than him and bowls without purpose.
He’s been so good all year though and then turned to puss over here.

I’ve never doubted his ability, I just don’t really like the bloke.
His talent should see him leave the game when he decides to.
Agree
As a batsmen his amongst the greats…..can’t stand the bloke and think there is a fair chance once he retires and reveals all we might have even more reason to dislike him.
I have an immense dislike for Warner so I'm biased and have always argued he can't be considered great due to his overseas average of 34. However it is hard to argue he's not one of the great openers with 25 test tons and the rate with which he scored made a huge difference.

Law states Illness or Injury so if you tell the umpire your'e feeling ill, who are they to question you ?
Is fatigue an illness ? Probably not in the spirit of cricket to RH for that reason but how can an umpire adjudge whether you're ill or not ?

When I was a teenager the touring team often arrived in Adelaide in late October and then played SA, VIC, NSW and QLD in the 4 weeks leading up to the first Test at the Gabba - so all members of the touring party played generally 2-3 games. Meanwhile the Australian players were playing at least 3 Shield games for their respective states as well - so there were no excuses for any players in either side involved in the 1st Test to be rusty or out of form. So there was a huge build up in excitement by the time we got to late November for the Gabba Test, especially if the touring team had beaten the state teams in their tour matches along the way. These days the touring team is ripe to be slaughtered at the Gabba due to no sensible preparation at all as players are involved in meaningless T20s or ODI around the world through November and jet into Brisbane seemingly 5 minutes before the 1st Test coin toss. No wonder Warney always cleaned up at the Gabba !!
from sometime in the 70s touring teams would land in perth and get smacked by WA first up

Yeah happy to concede on ‘great’ but in our top 3 openers ever.
For mine Taylor and Hayden comfortable ahead of him due to their overseas record
Warner at third and then a distance to the likes of Slater, Langer.
Ps Lawry probably sits alongside Warner as well
I know he didn't start as an opener but Langers overall record is pretty even with Taylors even his away record.
Hayden is definitely number one.
Warner is the 10th player to score a hundred in his 100th test and now has the second highest score of a player playing in his 100th test, Joe Root with 218 has the highest.
