30-40 years since Mylor were in A's according to the Courier. So that'll mean all clubs with the exception of Onkas and Basket Range will feature in the A's this season. Was a little surprised to read that Meadows will not have a second senior team.

nah thats not correct, Mylor definitely had A grade in the late 90's early 2000's

Seems like there's a few clubs across different associations struggling with numbers this year. Lack of preseason training due to the weather hasn't helped at all.

The Mylor quote/details was via their current President, but you could be right Dutchy. Either way it's a great effort given they only had 1 team as recently as 20/21.

Yep, the dreary weather hasn't helped those who are a little more apathetic/casual about their cricket find enthusiasm. Seems there a few clubs in the AEHCA with increased interest, as I've read Langhorne Ck and Mt Barker will field 4 teams (up from 3), and Woodside will have 6 or 7 (up from 5 I think). I guess each season there are always a few ups and downs with regards to team numbers across the hills.

Actually my mind is failing me, I thought it was A grade where I played against Mylor however it was B grade.

Good on them for having a crack at A grade this season

Sounds like a few late scratchings from that list above.
Word is that Woodside are pulling out one of their B Grades and Wistow withdrawing their C Grade
Which will leave BYEs in B C & D Grade
All yet to be confirmed but seems likely
It's unfortunate but this is becoming a regular occurrence on the eves of seasons starting . What it shows is just how hard it is for Clubs to get accurate playing numbers a month out from the season when nominations are due.

Yeah we've had to pull out our C Grade. Quite a few guys this year with new jobs that will be working some Saturdays or not available at all. So while we might have had enough to just field a team at the start of the season it would have quickly unravelled if there was any injuries

And on top of Woodside withdrawing one of their B Grade teams they have forfeited their D Grade already for their opening round this week as well tho have indicated they're confident they can fill it going forward.
With Byes, Forfeits, Wash Outs, Heat Outs along with the Test Match Weekend, 2 week Christmas break and the Australia Day Long Weekend some D Grade teams might only get as little as 11 or 12 matches for the season

Hills started last week. Mylor had a rude awakening to A grade cricket with Healey going bonkers on them. Meadows smoked Bridgey and Uris beat in Scibs in a semi close one.

Aldgate appear to be the team to beat with Atkins, woolard and Clements back. Stirling will be up there again as will Mt lofty. Rest is a lottery with meadows losing a few but they still have the best player in the comp to win them plenty, Kangys appear to be in a but of strife with numbers, uris lack a bit of depth but have some quality, scibs are on the improve but just need a full side then you would say Bridgey and mylor will battle for the spoon. Should be a pretty good competition this year.

A&EHCA Round 3 saw some lopsided results along with 1 upset in A Grade.

L. Creek remain the only undefeated side as captain Brodie O'Dea notched a majestic 145 as he put the Cally Cobra bowlers to the sword on the Creek turf as they posted a daunting 4/271 (45). Cally were never in the hunt and used the afternoon as batting practice finishing on 6/124 (45)

Strath dealt Nairne back to back losses as the Razorbacks struggled to get any momentum with the bat on the Strath turf, limping to 9/107 (45).
Strath wasted little time as curator Cuzzy and Matty Harris knocked them off without loss in about 20 overs.

Lobethal threatened to tally up a massive score against Hahndorf in German town as Mathews and 16 y.o. Tanner King put on well over a 100 opening stand in no time. Once both were gone (Mathews 43 King 92) the batting fell away some what to be bowled out for 239 (43.1)
Hahndorf never threatened as Lobey threw the ball around to use 10 bowlers to dismiss the Magpies for 155 with Jenner again scoring the bulk of their runs with 58

The upset of the round was over at Maccy oval where local star all rounder Lachy Barrett ripped the heart out of Woodsides batting by claiming the tidy figures of 6/11 off 9 overs  to roll the Warriors for only 87. The Redbacks despite losing 6 wickets were never really in trouble as they cautiously knocked the runs off in 31 overs.

Only 3 rounds in but it looks like Creeks and Lobey are a lock for finals. Strath have started strongly as they have their eyes on breaking a 25 year Premiership drought tho can they be trusted in being consistent enough all year to lock up a finals spot.? Nairne and Woodside are usually perennial finalists but both look to be a bit off the pace atm tho things can change quickly. Hahndorf look firm favorites for the spoon. Cally have shown they can take a big scalp here and there but they have a lot of average results in between and cant be seen as a serious threat. That leaves Macclesfield. They were unlucky last year with quite a few close losses. Starting well this season winning 2 of 3 if they can win their share of close ones which they lost last year they could remain a finals contender until deep into the season.

4 rounds down in the Hills and it's looking about as even as it ever has. Weather obviously has ruined some games and some ovals certainly struggling to get up like stirling and aldgate.

Lofty are up and about with there big 3 in Healey, Neis-Beer and Carthew in fine form. Rohan is frankly incredible and is carrying a much weakened meadows side single handedly with bat and ball. Stirling keep winning although appear a bit weaker on paper then last year. Aldgate lost last week but Atkins has been a big in and when Clements come back I'd suggest them and Lofty are the top 2. Scibs have won 2 close ones but have a much tougher draw coming up which will see where they are at. Uris batting is quality with Wilson in fine form but lack of depth hurts them big time, kangys appear to have fallen away a little but Che and Knight will win them games. Mylor and Bridgey will make up the last 2 spots but they are more then competitive, mylors batting is just a big issue outside James and Bridgey probably a bit the same outside of Summerill and Hoyle. My prediction for final ladder:

Lofty
Aldgate
Stirling
Meadows
SCIBS
Uris
Kangy
Mylor
Bridgey

Bremer Callington did well to bowl Lobey out for 93 after setting them 150 for victory.

Woodside chased down a massive score of 200 after being well behind in the run chase at one stage.

Langhorne Creek chased down 155 against Strath and Nairne beat Macclesfield.

Great round of cricket.

Great round of cricket.

What this round showed is that NO result can be taken for granted which is great for the comp.
Bremer / Cally sprung their usual massive upset, this time over Lobey. Must be very frustrating for them that their form is so inconsistent, knowing that they can beat top sides but then just as easily lose next week to bottom teams.
Maccy had Nairne under pressure but were probably about 25 runs short in the total batting 1st.
Hahndorf dont have the depth to be consistently competitive but whilst Dan Jenner continues his golden run with the bat (116* n.o.) yesterday they're making their opponents work hard for their wins as Woodside had to yesterday.
In the big derby clash at the Creek yesterday, Strath probably batted a bit too conservatively batting 1st to only end up with 5/155 off 45 which was under par in the glorious conditions. Creeks despite losing O'Dea early showed no signs of their batting struggles against Maccy last week as Kropp continued his good form along with class batsmen Dawson and Warren at last getting among the runs after a lean start to the season for both of them as the Creeks cruised to victory only 2 down

The results have seen the Creeks open up a 2 win gap at the top of the table already but could be tested next week as rumour has it that the majority of the team are having a day off to get sloshed at a local music festival

Nearly 1/4th of the way through the TVCA season already. Shaping up a pretty competitive season with only the one standout side at this stage, and a few of last season’s battlers having improved (on paper anyway):

Cambrai- 4W,0D,0L. Some handy recruits with bat and ball sees them the team to beat this season.
Gumeracha: 2-1. A narrow loss to Cambrai followed by a couple of wins. Only 4 of last year’s premiership team have made an appearance so far.
Lenswood 1-2-1. Washouts have ruined two home games, while they snuck home on the final ball v EV. Better depth this season
Palmer 1-1-1. Will push for finals after a poor season last year. A little more depth while the rumoured return of T. Rathjen hasn’t eventuated yet.
Birdwood 1-2. Very young team who show promise with the ball but are heavily reliant on a couple of batsmen. Will surprise a few.
Eden Valley 1-3. A disappointing start for last season’s runners up, with a few key personnel missing. Struggling with the bat currently.
Paracombe 0-1-2 Yet to play a game at home due a wet oval, lacking depth this season but will tough to beat as always

In the B’s the usual suspects of Cambrai, Paracombe and Eden Valley will push for finals. Reigning champs Gumeracha have had to forfeit a couple of games, Lenswood should be competitive while Palmer and Birdwood will likely fight it out for the spoon.

Good weekend for cricket
By the look of pictures I've seen of some of the ovals it'll be a struggle to get some games in next week too.

Yeppp, doesn't appear a single ball was bowled around the hills, unsurprisingly.

Personally have only played 2 games so far with 3 abandonments, with a bye this coming Saturday ](*,) After finally starting to resemble an Oval, Lenswood is likely to be mush again, so perhaps the bye comes at a good time (and with more rain forecast this saturday).

Who else is sick of the rain?! Our B Grades only played twice in the six rounds this season due to washouts, forfeits and byes.
Getting a bit ridiculous and some ovals may still struggle for another week or two even without rain.

I dont think ive ever seen a season so disrupted by the rain!

Can anyone shed some light on the interesting situation that occurred at Lobethal yesterday in the A grade? Rather spicy post on the Lobethal FB page and ensuing discussion. Having played at Lobethal in the rain i know it can be a tad slippery however it did rain all day on that particular day.
