England have already named their team, the only change is Ollie Robinson comes in for Matt Potts.
Zak Crawley keeps his spot, all the media surrounding the series has been mainly focused on Crawley this week, he continues to come under huge scrutiny.

"I don't expect consistency" , McAllum on Crawley.

Must be the only coach that doesn't. But I suppose Crawley HAS been consistent....consistently shite.

Elgar wins the toss and bats first. Playing in his 100th test match at home (the first time a cricketer has played 100 tests at home) Anderson dismisses Erwee for 3 and Broad has picked up Elgar and Petersen. SA are currently 3/48 and the ball is nipping around a fair bit.

Haven’t followed heaps closely but there doesn’t seem to many occasions you want to bat first in England these days. Seems a lot easier chasing in the fourth innings than batting in the first

Agreed Hammers. Can't believe the Saffers decided to have a hit. That batting lineup is wafer thin. Elgar looks hopeless honestly, he nearly got out the same way as last time, once is bad luck, twice is technique deficiency. He gets tied up into a little ball and can't drive. Peterson is very flaky outside offstump and I think we will well and truly sort them out when they come here.

It appears to be a tick for Bazzball in this match because it makes sense to attack after bowling out the oppo for **** all. Pope and especially Bairstow the main practitioners but get one or two early tonight and it can still swing South Africa's way. Reckon the Saffers have been sucked in a bit about Old Trafford being the English Bunsen and dropping Jansen in retrospect seems like a strange move. If Bairstow tons up it's 1-1.

I was real surprised when I read Jansen would be left out as I assumed South Africa would go into this test unchanged given how dominant they were at Lords and Jansen made contributions with both bat and ball. South Africa have been keen to get Harmer into the team though and it was mentioned in the media that having two spinners in the team means they're more likely to want to bowl last so perhaps it's part of the reason Elgar chose to bat which after day one seems like a strange tatic especially with their batting line up. You'd think their best chance of winning in England is when they bowl first.

His delivery to knock over Pope yesterday was a ripper and has continued to look threatening, Simon Harmer has been the opposite, he hasn't looked threatening at all.

England currently 5/212 at the start of second session, lead by 61.
Stokes 34*
Foakes 33*
Nortje 3/41

Poor batting performance by the S Africans

Tail certainly didnt hold up with them losing 6/28 to be bowled out for 179

Comprehensive win to England

Anderson with 3/30 in SA's second innings takes him past 950 international wickets going past McGrath who had the most for a pace bowler taking 949.

England v South Africa, third test at the Oval.
Delayed start due to rain, Stokes wins the toss and sends SA in.
The highly rated Harry Brook comes in for Bairstow.
Four changes for SA.

I think day 2 has now been cancelled due to the Queen passing away?

Yes day two has been cancelled.

I read England and SA management have discussed possibly moving day two to Saturday or cancelling the Test altogether. SA management is happy to accept whatever the ECB decide and are willing to stay in England to possibly complete the series.

Shit decision by SAF to not extend the test by a day due to their limited overs tour of India, which starts on September 28!

Hope they get belted.
