Never really understood people disliking certain music/artists, just listen to music you like?

Having an East Londoner for a father it was almost impossible to avoid as a child in the 80's. My siblings loved it, all the family friends loved it but I just didn't get it hey...… use to hate when the Clash, the Who, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Stone Roses came off and the stones came on.

Never really understood people disliking certain music/artists, just listen to music you like?

I guess its a bit like people who don't like certain sports, soccer, tennis etc, each to their own.

There are some bands/songs that I just switch off, literally when I her them. Queen & Meatloaf being the prime 2 candidates. Just makes my skin crawl.

Other than that I am fairly eclectic, can listen to anything from the Sex Pistols to Duran Duran. AC/DC to Johnny Cash.

I draw the line at heavy metal thrash, and I prefer to ignore Andre Rue as well, he is just a cover artist!

There is an awful song currently - don't know who is responsible, as I turn the radio off/down whenever it comes on.... that "just put death by rock n roll" abomination... just pig swill.

I understand back in the 80's we didn't have much choice, but these days with headphones and spotify it makes it very easy to block out what you dont want to hear

I think most complaints about music is the shit you hear when you can't turn it off, as it's residual noise.

Although everyone claimed to be a Pink Floyd diehard during my era I couldn't get into the monotonous tunes of them.

Growing up in a trucking environment, country and western was predominantly when I went to my grandparents or went interstate with the old man but my parents also listened to Led Zep, The Doors, The Animals, Joplin, The Beatles, The Stones, Hendrix and many others of that genre and era so when I hear any of them now it brings back good memories.

They changed a bit with the times too, the old man was pretty keen to show off his Dire Straits and Phil Collins CD's he got after the olds split up, my appreciation for their music is pretty high also.

I could listen to Floyd while lazing out on the back porch reading a book or something, I find them quite depressing and morbid generally, each to their own though, I have a warped taste in music, there's not a lot of styles that I don't like.
