That is one repetitive report.

Lacks the substance I thought would be there (going by the amount of comment).

Pretty damning but yes very repetitive.
I was hoping to read more about examples of what racist stuff happened to players, not how they were defined.

As an example if Lumumba was called the black panther because of his agility would that be read as racist?
Apparently they called him chimp because of his long arms. I do get that the monkey reference is not acceptable.
Andrew Symonds fiasco was the template for that.

My word yes. Gotta remember Rex got into trouble for saying Leon Davis was as black as a dogs guts referring to his poor form.

Collingwoods players (football and netball) have issued the following letter. Much better.

The following letter has been written by the 150 footballers and netballers of Collingwood.

Sorry.

As athletes we are sorry to anyone who, through their association with our club, has been marginalised, hurt or discriminated against due to their race.

Through our silence we feel responsible for these injustices. We acknowledge it is not enough to simply show support for the principles of anti-racism and inclusion. We will confront the history of our club in order to learn, heal and determine how best to walk forward together.

Over the last 72 hours we have had the opportunity to digest the DO BETTER report. We also apologise to those members, fans and community who feel guilt and shame as a result of the systemic racism that has occurred within our organisation.

To all the young people who dream about one day pulling on the black and white stripes, we pledge as athletes to continue to help create a club that allows ALL of us to thrive, regardless of race.

Faithfully.

This letter is endorsed and supported fully by the 120 staff of Collingwood.

Have to ask why didn't this letter come out at the Press Conference? or is it in response to the negative media?

I would guess the response to the press conference. Perhaps the first they knew of it was the press conference.

The letter quotes "over the last 72 hours".
So they've had time to digest what's in the report.
Seems all collingwood staff got the report the same time we did.
Pretty bloody ordinary if that's the case.

But a much more dignified response.

Had a poor finish.

In time people will look back on his tenure as a very successful one off field.

And everyone does the pile on Eddie.
He certainly ****** things up but I'm not sure Collingwood would be where they are financially without him
He got them out of a big hole.

He’s been good for Collingwood and the afl in general but his time was up a few years ago.
Should have gone out under better circumstances but that’s life.

Eddie McGuire's end as Collingwood president has to me been reminiscent of John Howard's end as PM. Hung on to the job way too long, refusing to go, too tin-eared and at the end basically disgracing himself and the position.

See the player profile getting around from years ago when he was Harry Obrien, they asked his nickname, he said "The Chimp". Does this change things?

Ed's time was up.
Sad end to a great presidency at collingwood.
He's hurting pretty bad over this whole fiasco but done the right thing.
Been great for our club, the community and footy in general.

Don't worry about him calling Adam Goodes King Kong, or laughing at the disabled lady tossing the coin, or calling the report into systemic racism at the club a proud and historic day, or offering money to drown Caroline Wilson the main thing is he made Collingwood rich.
