Now, for $17 for 9 holes and walking up without a booking you get what you pay for, but the course is in really poor shape. It's well groomed as in the fairways and 1st and 2nd cut of rough are short and manageable but the only green stuff to hit off starts about 100-120m from the tee and in most places is on 15-25m wide so it's pretty tough going if you want to stay on the good stuff. Outside that while there's grass there and it's mowed it's brown and hard on the 1st / 2nd cut then just turns to sandy shit beyond that.

It's privately owned so it's clear money is the deciding factor. As noted it's well mowed so someone is doing some work around there, if they just included some dragging out of hoses and whacking a sprinkler on the end it would be far more enjoyable.

Enjoyed it as I beat junior and he had to buy the beers afterwards but the course could be looked after better.

Sounds better than the last time I played there....

Definitely wasnt my best round. I had alot of wayward tee shots which resulted in alot of recovery 2nd shots out of trees. My approach shots was
my strength today so that was a positive, starting to hit my 60 degree good. Definitely need alot of work on my long irons and Driver, still topping and chunking more than id like to do.

Think i saw a photo on FB adelaide social golf yesterday and there were comments were, like you said hole numbers changed.

That was me, i was the one who took the photo haha.

Overall though nearly the best ive ever played even though it was only 9.

Off to Tanunda Pines this weekend for a golf (piss up) trip. Haven't played there before but heard it can be tough. Going to be shit house weather on Saturday. Cold and windy.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Off to Meningie on the weekend for the Lake Albert Ambrose. Lots of Beer, Bets, Bourbon and Birdies (hopefully).

Bookended with the rescheduled work Christmas function on the Friday and Superbowl on Monday. The ol Liver is gonna be rough. :D

I never played the Meningie ambrose but mates of mine have. They described it as a piss up, occasionally interrupted by golf!

Accurate. We are always hungover, so the later tee time (10.30) is gonna be to our advantage.

Also have the new fairway wood and 2 x Ripcore Wedges (50 and 56 deg) to test down there. No better way to test clubs than in an Ambrose!

Got my handicap in today. Starting off at a 23.

Jumped on the twilight comp at TTG tonight and had a stinker and only managed 9 points. Didnt get close to hitting a par all night. Only real positive of the night was flushing my pitching wedge over the lake on the 15 to within 10 feet of the hole. Followed by a 3 putt

Down at The Mount with work and as I do during daylight savings I take my clubs and go for a hit after work. Played 9 at The Blue Lake G.C last night. Magnificent set up for a public course and probably standing on the podium with the best public courses in SA - I’d argue when weighing up course quality and the $28 fee for 18 holes that it’s easily the best value course in the State. Shot a 52....
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Can confirm both the 50 and 56 are sensational. Fairway wood hit a couple of rippers too.

Ended up equal 3rd, 5 under off the stick was never gonna be enough (7 under won).

Biggest disappointment was back at the caravan park, hooked up a beast of a carp which ran into the reeds. Not to be outdone 2 of us jumped in after it, only to see the damn thing shake the hook when we were about a metre from it. Would have been a solid 45cm specimen. The local Pelicans were also disappointed to see it get away :)

9 holes at Flaggy this morning, course has improved significantly since I last played there, suspect the cheques from the retirement village are now rolling in so they can put that into the course. Greens as good as I have seen them.

Going to get back into golf now that summer sport has finished and before footy starts. Will play tomorrow then in the vw scramble on Sunday. Havnt picked up the sticks since aus day long weekend when I had a pb of 86 off the stick in a stroke round.
Think I have about 15 or 16 cards in so hopefully now over the next month I can finally have my full 20 cards in. Handicap currently at 17.4 via golf link so hope it keeps heading in the right direction. Probably going to go up slightly after tomorrows card as I can't imagine it being a flagged round being away from the course for so long.
Brilliant weather for the walks though so will be no complaints
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
