Apparently now the test will remain at the SCG if the BCCI agree

ICC have docked four Test Championship points from Australia, and fined their players 40 per cent of their match fees for slow over-rate in the second Test against India.

Only 1 Australian top order batsman has made a half century this series
He is likely to be dropped for the 3rd test
Joe Burns 51 not out

Australias 4 innings in the series
32 wickets
679 runs
269 overs

A problem is the rate of scoring
They are mostly allowing the Indians to dictate

Australias 2 highest scores for the series
Paine 73 off 99 balls
Burns 51* off 63 balls

Both took on the Indians and prospered

This is how each batter should 'perhaps' bat for the rest of the series if selected
Warner- natural game
Harris - natural game
Burns - play more shots
Wade-must play shots
Lab- natural game
Smith- natural game , hopefully he regains form , his eclectic technique maybe a problem these days
Head - must play shots
Green - how he batted today
________________________________
Pucovski - natural game
Maxwell- smashem
Maddinson - natural game
Shaun Marsh - natural game
Mitchell Marsh - smashem

Burns/Wade/Head are better when they attack
If they try and be too defensive , I think , their test careers will finish sooner than later
Most of the other batsmen should be a bit more offensive minded when they bat

One thing that has to happen in the near future is for Green to bat at 5, whilst Wade or Head at no 6.
Not saying this on the back of one innings, and not sure if now is the time to do this, but definitely not too far down the track.
May seem insignificant, but it gives our batting a more solid look, with Head or Wade being able to be uncomplicated strokemakers.

Ideally my 11 for SCG would be:
Warner
Harris
Lab
Smith
Green
Head/Wade
Paine
The four bowlers.

Head is obviously more naturally talented than Wade, but playing him isn't the gamble, dropping him is and see if he really wants it, and forces his way back in next summer.

I don't understand how we didn't go with Harris once Pucovski was ruled out, a specialist opener who had been in pretty good form. I don't see how or why Harris or Renshaw were removed after promising starts to their careers, and made as good a fist of it as anyone else.

Harris is just as bad as Burns and not up to it either IMO.

Because without NSW there wouldn’t have even been a series. Guess they are repaying the favour similar to the AFL did with QLD.
South Africa are in the middle of a far worse outbreak and the series with SL is going ahead and so far no incident. Sports all around the world are being played in the midst of outbreaks

Why couldn't they just swap the 3rd and 4th test locations?

Without shield cricket being played I think its hard for the selectors to make wholesale changes to the side. Below is how I would line up. I honestly don't think Wade is doing that bad a job, throw in Warner as his partner at you at very least know you have two openers having a fair dinkum crack who wont take a step backward.

Head survives just...….you could bring in Harris and drop Head but I honestly don't think Harris at the top is a solution, his just as susceptible to tickle one outside off that he shouldn't have played at. I would move Green above Head though. He seems to value his wicket a bit more which could be invaluable if we lose a few early ones. Green also looks to be a lot more patient and would benefit from not batting with the tail after the loss of a couple of wickets. I also think Head would benefit from coming in as late as possible.

The bowlers pick themselves.

Putting all my faith in Warner getting us off to a good start and lifting those around him including Smith.

Warner
Wade
Labuschagne
Smith
Green
Head
Paine
Cummins
Starc
Lyon

This seems to be all the talk last couple days - like Warner is going to be the magic remedy for our woes.. i'm concerned too much emphasis/weight/expectation is being placed on Warner.
