E33’s & Sub-zeros

Mississippi Moonshine, Nikov, West End Super.

Home made ouzo with the aniseed extract you could buy from Woolies, friggin lethal.

Nikov vodka and orange in a goon cask, I remember that stuff, bloody horrid.

WE Super (false advertising) - what about its offsider 'Black Crow'? I think it was mid-strength?

Those boozy cake essences, there's good reason they're off the shelves (and glad I got to have a crack before they did ;) ).

Mate, I had my first power chuck on the Nikov, walked into a friends house 2 days later and it was 40+ degrees, they either had OJ or vodka somewhere in the house and I chucked again. That and Moonshine were both $10 each, you'd go from being fine to totally shitfaced instantly, same as the ouzo, woke up many mornings wondering what and who I had done during the lost hours, especially if I woke up naked.

Had the same feeling - your brain plays your memory like its a jigsaw puzzle, with bits falling into place piece by piece over several hours. Your mates might provide some missing pieces, but others are never found.

We always drank it at my cousins house, she always had a few friends over so it made for some interesting nights, her partner, her brother and I were the only males there most times, there was a reason why I wouldn't let my mates come too.

Mississippi Moonshine and Wipeout the two shittest drinks ever made and can't believe I drank that shit as an underage teenager. I guess in those days, as long as it got you pissed for bugger all cost it didn't matter. Still haven't been able to do coconut flavoured drinks ever since. Do they still make Wipeout?
So you've seen everything have you?

Straight Moonshine put hairs on ya nuts as a kid.

Yep, Wipeout is still around, we were getting bottles of it a couple of years to mix with a concoction of things to produce something, can't remember what else we added though off the top of my head. Agreed though, that and anything watermelon just cannot be a drink.

Has anyone indulged in the shooter buckets that sip'n'save do? They're lethal

The Hard Lemonade certainly packs a punch, a mate had a few there and then took a 6 pack back to camp for the night, he smashed them in 2 hours and was in bed shortly after  He said they feel like they have codeine in them!

Personally I loved the Summer Ale, cracking beer, will be hunting some down in Adelaide.

Love this place.
I’m going there again in a couple of weeks.

I always try the paddles so I can taste each drink before getting stuck into the pints.
Even the ruby grapefruit goes alright.

The only drink I didn’t like was the orange flavoured beer.
I think it was a lager from memory but it tasted all wrong.

Yep, great spot that I don't get to often enough. I went there a couple of years ago when a huge storm came through where torrential rain lashed down for about 15 minutes. After it cleared all the folks attempting to get down the very slippery clay banks to their tinnies and boats provided great entertainment through the afternoon. And yes, I enjoyed getting through their range, very good beers! Didn't try the orange beer tho, may have to go back when I'm up that way over Christmas.

Lemon Ruski's were another pre mix from the 90's, never had a voice next day after a night on them

Hated all 3, but managed to drink 6 Strongbow Whites on a car trip from Christie Downs to Lennies.... they proceeded to reappear about an hour or so later in the back area near the couches which was followed by 2 mates hauling me up 'Weekend at Bernies' style on the dance floor for a solid hour before I came good. No idea how I didn't get kicked out.

They were rocket fuels.

Following on from the impromptu "pale ale in a can" discussion which has sprung up on this thread.

So I grabbed a carton of the limited edition 440 ml Coopers pale cans on the way home. $54 at the local BWS, compared with $51 for the 375 ml cans. Not worth shopping around for the sake of three bucks.

Sucking down my third right now. It certainly has a metallic note to it, as does every beer drunk from a tin. It is unmistakably a Coopers pale, especially that strong characteristic aftertaste. Yet it does seem to lack a bit of body compared with the ale drunk from a glass stubby (@Spargo: echo). Don't know that I'll go for a fourth. I'd buy it again, if coopers persisted with the 440 ml can, if only for the novelty of a bit of extra beer per can.

I am now curious to see how the sparkling ale goes out of a can, rather than a bottle. I haven't been able to drink the sparkling in large quantities since I was in my 20s. Perhaps the cans will go down a little easier...

Tell ya what, even though I much prefer stubbies to cans, when I just dropped a full stubby in the kitchen and was cleaning up the millions of shards of glass I was considering another benefit of cans!

Excellent review, it is unmistakably Coopers pale and I took the liberty of purchasing two cartons yesterday for the house boat trip I have coming up at the end of the month. They, the cans and the house boat, should go nicely together.
