The problem is we finished 2nd to last and our squad is now weaker.
If we don't recruit some quality we will finish last.

Not Deflecting at all Spargo our losses far outweigh our ins and unless we can find some players it is likely to be a very long season

imo the club has seriously overestimated the squad if they think they have a ready made top 3 team like Thommo has talked about being.

That in my opinion is putting a lot of eggs in the 'coach was crap' and the 'players will naturally develop' basket. Whilst I agree that a lot of the younger players will naturally improve I don't feel like Andrews game day coaching was a bad as some make it out to be.

Obviously though all the discussion surrounding this is going to be proven correct or incorrect by the on-field performances and results.

I'm not sure any casual average joe fan though is going to be lining up to get a membership because of anticipation surrounding the upcoming season.

Varcoe definitely not returning to the SANFL, has joined the Western Bulldogs, in the coaching department.

Westies announce former Gold Coast academy player Josh Gore (reportedly unlucky he wasn’t drafted) to go with our weekend signing of Frane Babic a 206cm raw ruck man from the Sydney Swans academy

Sounds like a pretty good signing. Another player from an AFL squad (even though in this case its an Academy) to join the SANFL. Good for Westies and good for the standard of the competition. It seems that there are quite a lot of ex-Qld based players coming down to SA this year.

It does feel like the bloods will be big improvers this year.

They will improve they have recruited well. We are getting left behind with recruiting and appear to be struggling to get any players of note like the other clubs ,

Dogs brought this on themselves unfortunately. That being said their game style in the 2nd match of the year against us was horrendous. Think they were 4/6 wins thereafter though. Hopefully the Andrews call was the right one.

Don't think it has been mentioned on here yet but Jake Weidemann, son of the Wayne Weidemann, has also signed with the Power Reserves.

I think he only played a handful of senior games and was a useful player but was probably unlikely to crack our league side this year, particularly given our recruiting.

Jake Westbrook and Tristan Carcuro have also both left the club though not sure whether they will be lining up with one of our rivals.
