Oh great. I'm so happy that Centrals have lost another player and also so proud that we had a player drafted to the AFL.

in case you didn't realise I'm being sarcastic.

On the contrary, I actually feel pleased, for Corey, that he realises his dream of playing in the AFL.
I am also pleased, for us, that he has been drafted by an interstate club so will not be playing against us next year.

The team I feel sorry for is actually the Eagles (which is very unusual for me ;) ) as they are likely to have a number of their 2020 players playing against them next year.

I also am quite irate at Port's selection of Goldsack as a 33 year-old 'rookie'. This shows that they lied to the SANFL about their reason for having all Power players play at the Magpies; it is more about bolstering their chances of winning an SANFL premiership than their AFL prospects. If the SANFL had any balls, they should make it a condition of the Crows and Power being in the SANFL next year that the old system of the 'internal draft' is re-implemented. All players drafted from SA should continue to play for their SANFL club of 2020 when not selected in the AFL side, and all interstate drafts should be allocated out between the SANFL clubs.

Cheers

This entirely defeats the purpose of the Crows/Power having a SANFL side. And say what you want about the Goldsack situation but I think its a smart move by the Power, lets them develop players under an experienced AFL head on and off the field.

I agree re Corey, all the best in the AFLand glad he wont have to play against us. Hopefully Hately plays AFL.

Disagree re the Eagles. I think it will be fantastic to see four of their former players, play against them. Hopefully they dominate against them. Eagles voted in this crap. Be good to see it happen to all the "bend over" clubs. South, I feel sorry for.

I certainly agree with you re South Adelaide. The only thing in their favour is that at least only one of their players will be playing against them next year. However, to have lost four players in the one draft is a tough pill for them to have to swallow.

You can pay a rookie whatever you like these days can’t you.
Obviously a minimum but no maximum?

I reckon he’d be on a lot more than $100k given the role he’s taken on.

As I understand it (Booney and co may have further insight) all Ports coaches copped a 36% salary cut. So his salary now may be back where it was but with extra duties.

Maybe, to make it an even playing field (as Port were complaining that it wasn't), the AFL/SANFL should give every SANFL club $100 000 so that we can each appoint a playing assistant-coach... that would overcome Port's objection that it wasn't an even playing field. ;)

Chris Davies told media today they don’t expect Tyson Goldsack to play any AFL games next year.

Happy with the talent they have on the list, so have listed Goldsack to work around tight SANFL restrictions and use him purely as a development player/coach

So he’ll be under SANFL salary cap restrictions?
Is this the “more even playing field” Koch was squealing about?
