Nothing really happens until January anyway so I wouldn't say they are standing in the way YET.
He's obstructing the hand-over that is necessary for a smooth transition of power in January.
What is worse in my eyes is that he is trying to de-legitimise democracy. There will be many in the US who now will never accept the result of an election. This is exactly what Putin wanted when he 'installed' The Donald.
Please, the US election system has been questioned long before 2020.
Don't forget the left were up in arms in 2016 over "Russian interference" following Don's win in 2016.
And didn't George Dubs get in 5 weeks after the election following a court ruling over Florida?
I'm sure there are plenty of examples on both sides going back over the years.[/quote]
I think comparing what Trump is doing now to 2000 or 2016 or any other occasion in recent decades is false equivalence.
As BDP noted, in 2000 the Democrats had some SPECIFIC allegations in relation to the one state that would decide the election, and presented evidence for it, and the result was in the hundreds.
In this case, Trump has not put up evidence of any SPECIFIC incidents, let alone evidence of tens of thousands (cf. hundreds) of illegitimate ballots, let alone in enough states to make a difference.
And nor did Gore spit the dummy and basically make shit up like the current president.
Making specific, balanced criticism of certain ways in which the election was conducted (which should be welcomed at each election - this is how things improve) is totally different to claiming the other side have stolen the election.
Also, foreign interference in elections is a significant issue and definitely something to be up in arms about.
