Get your hand off it old man!

I meant in scoring rate, not talent wise.

He went at a strike rate of 85 in the ODI's and averaged over 40 and frankly was in the side when others were very inconsistent.

A lot of games he accelerated his S/R and games where he was slow generally were when he saved the Aussie innings - like South Africa ODI at Centurion when he scored 50 at 6 whilst the 5 above combined for 18.

Ferguson was building himself in the Bevan mould before injury.

Get around him.
An average of 40 in ODIs (mainly against strong opposition), coming in at 5 or 6, is pretty phenomenal actually.

Get off his pole.

An 85 S/R for a 5 or 6 is sub-par in ODI's since the early 2000's, he went alright but he rarely hit a 6 and just nudged the ball around, I thought Bevo was somewhat selfish, he tended to strive for red ink rather than eek out some extra runs with some big shots or risky running. Yes, he saved us a couple of times with an epic knock and yes back then 75-80 SR was par or above as 240 was a competitive score.

I've always been a fan of Ferg but when we had Punter, Clarke, 2x Hussey, 2x Marsh, Maxwell and a young Smith entering the scene he needed a bit more flair to his game.

Waft.. name me other players who have had a career S/R over 85 and also averaged over 40 through that period.

FWIW 7 of his innings went at a S/R of 100+ and another 6 between 90-100.

Also you lost me at Dave Hussey.

How's his 2nd last ODI, he didn't bat though but it went like this:

We were chasing the Banga's 7/229.

We managed 1/232 from 26 overs.
Watson 185* (96)
Haddin 8 (19)
Ponting 37* (42)
