Other clubs battling to get a top pick need to learn from Geelong. It's not the top picks that gets you to the top, it's having good players in the 20-50 pick range that develop (and potentially get taken by other clubs) topping up their draft picks which they then use to secure other good players, not just drafting kids each year! They've never bottomed out because they don't have to.

As I've said previously no 1 draft picks don't maketh the team!

Think they'd prefer to still have Kelly though

Probably, but given the emphasis on player wellbeing away from the game someone who isn't happy isn't a viable long term option.

Clubs are willing to let players go for their own wellbeing ahead of their squads needs. Charlie Cameron, Jack Steven, Tim Kelly, Jesse Hogan etc etc.

Yeah i get that, just mean it wasnt "good strategy" for Geelong to have 2 top picks when it was in reality forced on them

Agreed, when they let Kelly go they didn't know they'd be in a GF and (probably) didn't know Cameron was certain to try and get to them.

According to Kornes on SEN in regards to Crouch

I haven’t seen often a player deal with leaving a football club like Brad has dealt with it … Brad he just wants out for the biggest figure, he doesn’t care where he plays, which is unusual.”

Geez, had a listen to Silvagni this morning. Seems the parting of ways wasn’t amicable at all

Kane has been wrong on this all year.
Yes he wants the biggest pay, BUT he also wants to stay. If Crows are the biggest figure then he'll stay however I think it's the Crows who will let him go for pick 2.

There is no way in hell you get pick 2 for him. None at all.

Daniher reportedly offered 4x $600k by Brisbane and that would only get us Band 2

The GF is irrelevant and have been into Cameron for years. But is this bit the "good strategy"?
