Who have they lost?

Who cares, should be made to enjoy a season in G1 after dominating G2 the last couple seasons.

Word is their whole top order are gone.

I can't really see the Units doing anything different unless someone like Fenners took over, he seems to be pretty happy out at South Gawler though.

I wonder if they keep Grade 1 at 6 teams?

Will they follow suit and have all Grades at 6 teams and go 1 up, 1 down?

That's pretty random, Craigmore would be spewing and Tyson might end up playing against his old man.

Well done to Dublin if it comes into fruition, they have a habit of picking up decent players, if you build something good, people will come.

B. Woodward confirmed back to Units.

N. Fenwick has done an amazing job at the footy club getting it financially back on track even after a rough year onfield. If he doesnt go back to Souths, he will be still be around the place and I reckon he will quietly slip back into their Grade 2 side ;)

North Pines will be in Grade 1. There has to be 8 teams this season, noone else even close to that level.

Para Vista taking the easy option in Grade 5, got McLeod back, their fast left armer. Would like to see them apply themselves and take on grade 2.

Adelaide Warriors to return with 2 one day sides.

Para Vista would not be anywhere near good enough for div 2 without an influx of players.

8 team div 1
6 team div 2
8 team div 3
8 team div 4

does that work @bedge
1. Moses 2. Smasha 3. powerport 4. Carey 5. open for nominations

Grade 2 aint that much chop nowadays.

The arse end of Grade 1 drops away dramatically too, leave it at a 6 team comp IMO to prevent outrights and floggings.

Vi$ta would be competitive in Grade 2, as LM said it aint what it used to be.. a lot would rely on Hoddo to fire with the bat though.

Personally would be good to see PV return to 2 day cricket in general, however don't see that happening when you look over the age of some of their players.. maybe in a few years if their juniors takes off.

8 team div 1
8 team div 2
8 team div 3
6 team div 4

I actually think, if a club in general works their way up the LO grades and then wins a premiership in the highest LO grade, they should be required to move into 2 day cricket the following year.

Firstly, please don't use the word "Twas" again, do you still write with a quill?

Secondly, which clubs opposed it? Here's how I see it:

Virginia: Opposed as they finished top anyway, having two more minnows in the comp would boost averages.
Angle Vale: Always around the mark so they'd sooner 8.
Westies: Doesn't affect and they can beat anyone on their day, they'd pick 8.
Eastern Park: They'd opt for 8 to have a couple of extra teams to flog.
Gardens: Probably 8, they're stuck in Grade 1 anyway and they'd appreciate some easier games.
NEK: 6, so they can be demoted after a tough initiation to Grade 1.
NP: 8, if they have to go up.
Dublin: 6 if they can stay down, 8 if they have to go up.
Goats: 6, so they're less likely to go up again, mass exodus if they do.
ATCO: 6, for the rare chance that they play in a GF, they wouldn't want to be in G1.
Craigmore: 6, until they can get Dyl back.
Eyre: Doesn't really affect them, they're A's play in the B's so they're not going anywhere. (I might end up joining them).
Riverside: They probably didn't get the facsimile to have a vote.
Enfield: They'd pick 8 to keep themselves further away from G1.
Smithfield: See above unless they can get Z.Lowe, Owen and Dunn back.

Any clubs that I missed don't deserve a vote.

Dublin were keen to remain in Grade 1 last year before the exec ruled on 6 teams, so i'd think they'd be happy with 8 - plus some handy inclusions this season should keep them in good stead.

Enfield have always been keen to play as high as possible, so would've phase me personally, but sadly over the past 10yrs the club has constantly been bumped up grades to fill voids first in C&CCA now in PDCA and have never actually earned that right to go up a grade.. it's probably a miracle that we've been competitive as much as we have.. plus a 6 team G1 would put us further back than an 8 team grade haha!

Sadly you're right though, grade 2 drops away dramatically, and a lot of clubs who wouldn't be prepared or in a position to go up if it happened.

Losing the likes of Salisbury North, Rose & Crown, Brahma Lodge, Two Wells and Sandy Creek - even Adelaide Warriors - from the higher two day grades over the past 10-15yrs has really depleted the standard and depth of the competition.

Has to be 8 in Grade 1. Might be a long year for the bottom 2/3 but it needs to happen. 6 sides is not a legitimate amount of teams for any grade IMO, but if it has to happen has to be Grade 4.
