Round 8 Sturt v Centrals Saturday 1410

Postby PanthersFan » Thu Aug 13, 2020 1:16 pm

After they were shown up last week at Prospect, the Double Blues return to Unley in need of a win to keep their season alive. The Doggies haven't been themselves this season and will be hoping to breakthrough for a win but I think Sturt will be too good on their home deck.

Sturt by 15 points.

There is always a time to break a losing run; not going to guarantee it will be this week but I am hoping it will be.

We just can't beat them and I don't see anything changing.

My tip is a 5 goal loss. Doesn't seem to matter the quality of our opposition this year, we're either dragging them all down to our level or playing better when the opposition is better. It's always pretty close to a 5 goal loss. Though given Sturt's ability to slot 'em from anywhere at Unley, I may even stretch it to 7.

Still enjoying the games though, we do keep coughing up one quarter, but tend to be competitive and interesting in the other 3, usually losing by close to the score we gave up in the bad quarter.

Yes but what was your 1978 Reserves team and what was their record.... ;)
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'd prefer Thompson over Marsh with Fort used as backup.

I wrote this year off weeks ago.

Just keep playing our juniors.

Hopefully next year with some good recruits we might become competitive.

Psst dont tell anyone i still go to home games.

I'm furious about the injury to Troy Menzel, looks like a shoulder injury. It was the result of a sling tackle, I was about 100 metres from it and heard the thump as Troy was slung into the ground. Sickening. No free kick. No report. WTF!

I'm devastated for Troy and hope he recovers quickly and feel sickened that he was injured.

What a wonderful day. An enjoyable 11 goal loss with the largest losing margin for the year. This season gets better every week. I'm so sad that there are only 6 games left to enjoy this season.

I can't believe how much opposition supporters enjoy playing us. I especially enjoy them laughing at our ineptitude and cheering every mistake and missed goal. Currently I rate us as 10th out of 8. This is the worst Centrals team in our history and possibly the worst team ever in the SANFL.
