In a season of mixed fortunes for the promoted sides, promoted Roosters and Hips Don't Lie have snuck a game clear of the chasing pack with six wins and two losses. The Roosters are a very strong combination and look the stronger of the two, although the lower scoring Hips Don't Lie combination have proven to be hard to tackle so far this season. In a season where the established teams have struggled, Captain Who has stood out. At this point of the season the Captain is my choice for the premiership although I don't think @Groover would thank me for tipping him given my tipping record. The Captain has been outscoring most teams week in week out and currently one of the few Premier League sides pulling their weight being the number three ranked team in the Hogg.
Teams on 5-3 that aren't quite as scary as the Captain include Q, Inner Sanctum, Chicken Twisties and Sharks. The Sharks are having their best season but a low scoring outing last week was what was predicted of the Sharks pre-season so there is plenty of time yet for the Golden Greek to throw away his excellent start to the season. Chicken Twisties was the early frontrunner but recent weeks has seen the twisties go a bit stale. Q has been solid without being brilliant and a continuation of this solid form should see Q in the finals this season. Inner Sanctum has been going well but a slip up last week was reminiscent of their 2019 form which was underwhelming.
It seems like just about everyone is 4-4 and fighting it out for three spots in an absolute logjam in the middle of the table. Toss a coin just about to try and figure out who makes the eight this year. Richo Richo is in eighth spot this year but I can't have Richo in the eight this year, he just doesn't score enough. A lot would need to change if Richo was to hang on to his spot on the ladder. Meanwhile teams such as Delicious, Has Been, Hondo, REBCats and Eckys Fevolas all hovering. Nope. No way @CoverKing!
Season 2020 has seen the 2019 kings turn into also-rans. Last year's grand finalists Poon and Benny Rolfs have been but a shadow of their former selves with Benny Rolf looking to be AWOL and thus putting up their hand to be relegated to Division I or out of the Hogg next season. As for Poony, well, he has been trying hard but just sucks balls this season. Poon got the invaluable win against Benny Rolfs but right now he is in a life or death struggle with Wadeys Warriors who are off to a flyer in their round nine match. The loser of that match is going to find it tough to escape the drop Wadey started his Hogg Premier career with seven straight losses but they have righted the ship and the points are starting to flow. Wadey won't be in the finals but he will be a massive bannana skin to navigate your way past as @hambone is currently finding out. Perhaps the loser of that round nine match isn't for the drop as there is another candidate, Mediocre at Best who has lived up to their name a bit over the past two seasons. Medicore's handy percentage could become a factor in a few weeks, especially if it is Wadey who is the other side under seige...if it's Poony look out.
