Two teams left to fill the league, @Masha Buddy Franklin and @One club player Has Been. The two teams who will be invited to Hogg Premier on Friday March 6 if those sides don't join the league prior to the March 5 deadline will be @Pompy Roosters and @May-Z eddieslittleindians.

Gents (no ladies amongst us this season), this is the final field for Hogg Premier League for 2020. Has Been signed up at the eleventh hour and Buddy Franklin copped his third strike and missed the deadline. Taking the Buddster's place is Pompy's mighty Roosters. Pomp reckons he's a bit of a Bradbury qualifying for the Premier the way in which the Roosters have but like their NRL counterparts, the Roosters are the real deal. The chooks racked up an impressive 52k last year and are seeded only behind Richo who somehow managed to miss the finals last year.

Teams in blue are the new teams. Welcome back to the top flight Hips Don't Lie who are the second team after the departed Buddy Franklin to achieve that feat. The other promoted side is Wadey's Warriors who have battled their way up from the lower leagues so welcome to Premier Wadey. All three new teams are in the top half of the rankings.

HOGG PREMIER LEAGUE 2020

1 Richo Richo Man CoverKing 52442
2 Roosters pompy 52219
3 Ben Rolfsbergers Josh 52044
4 Hondo SCC Hondo 52004
5 Poon Illuminati Troy 51812
6 TEAM_FISH fish 51603
7 Wadey's Warriors WadeySA 51503
8 Chicken Twisties LMA 51363
9 Hips Don't Lie Scott L 51292
10 Q Before You Quichey 51254
11 Has Been One Club Player 51215
12 Delicious valleys07 51029
13 Ecky's Fevolas Ecky 50861
14 Captain Who? Groover 50796
15 Inner Sanctum AGENT09 50627
16 Mediocre at Best Feenix 50600
17 REBCats REB 50488
18 sharks Spiro 48990

On this scoring the league's weekly par score is 2227 and the par season score is 51230. ******* hell it was nice knowing you boys. Hey @hambonewould look after this league after I get relegated mate? #-o

Good luck to all Premier League coaches. This looks like a pretty strong league, hopefully Spiro and I don't drag down our ranking too much. Speaking of rankings, if you haven't already please join the Hogg Shield group which was set up by a Hawthorn supporter who can't spell. Code for the group is 137550.

He's been replaced by someone who outranks him. My loss to the Buddster last year was a bit of turning point for me. I would have been 7-1 if I hung on and I ended up 7-10! Ouch.

18 Captain Who? 0 1 2071 2296 90.20 0

This is going to be a high standard evenly contested league if the first round is anything to go by. Already ranked 640 there were no really dud scores but nothing really massive either but I'm sure that will come and the ranking will go up. Big scorers from last year Richo Richo and the defending premiers Benny Rolfs got off the mark in round one but it was Chicken Twisties, Ecky's Fevolas, Has Been and TEAM_FISH who led the way with the scoring. Big scoring Twisties were fresh out of the pack with a percentage boosting victory over Captain Who with the Captain sitting in the galley at the moment.

There are three new sides this year but only Hips Don't Lie got the chocolates with Roosters and Wadeys Warriors having to wait another week...or is that another nine weeks lol. Q started off with his traditional loss and Hondo and Poon find themselves in unusual surroundings. The Sharks looked like they were going to get rolled but came from behind to sink the REBCats whose Melbourne contingent failed to fire a shot. Thanks a lot Max. At valleys park we've got the close one said the commentators and it was the home side Delicious who got a tasty win sneaking in over Mediocre at Best by 10 points.

With only 13 rounds this season it won't be a good look for any side to start off with a run of losses so for all the teams on zero points this week is massive.

HOGG IS BACK

17 Captain Who? 0 2 4221 4464 94.56 0
18 Hondo SCC 0 2 4095 4384 93.41 0

This time last year Benny Rolfs were on a roll and the foundation teams REBCats and Poony were riding high on the top three spots on the ladder. This year the ladder already has a different look about it. The REBCats are the lowest scoring team in the comp and Poon , while scoring better has the same burger ring in the W column. Another side who regularly threatens the top four is Hondo who is in an uncharacteristic position on the table, stone motherless and in a spot of bother. But you won't hear the REBster sledging the great man as it's Hondo vs. Cats this week in the Premier League mockbuster.

You couldn't begrudge Richo Richo winning a low scoring game and Cover King must have gotten some measure of satisfaction after defeating the defending premiers in an uninspiring contest. Promoted Hips Don't Lie scored a comfortable win to remain unbeaten and Delcious has gotten off to a handy 2-zip start as well. Spiro aka 'The Golden Greek' has yet to have a successful Premier League season but is on track so far in 2020. The sharks were the lowest ranked team going in but instead of sitting on the bottom they are in the top five and scoring well. Top of the class is Ecky's Fevs who have had a better record than the sharks so far and continue to do so. Ecky fully deserves his current rating and the latest team to cop the Ecky Thump (A Goodies reference in memory of Tim Brooke Taylor) was TEAM_FISH who were a bit off as they scored even less than the REBCats which is never a good sign.

Someone left the Twisties pack open and during the twelve week absence the Chicken Twisties were as stale as Mediocre handed out a crunching hiding. Shit. Who eats Chicken Twisties anyway, horrible things. The answer to that of course, is Mediocre at Best chomp chomp. Sanctum and Q opened their accounts on resumption with some solid scoring in a week when the league took a collective dump and our ranking tumbled faster than a Romanian gymnast.

Yet another experienced straggler is Captain Who, who, at least managed to get off the bottom as the Roosters opened their Premier League account and keeping us old hands company in the Wine Cellar is Wadey's Warriors who have found it tough in the top flight so far. So here we go again you blokes Round 3 it is and Hondo if you could stink it up this weekend it would certainly be appreciated mate. 8)

After one of the toughest rounds of Hogg action in memory, Hippy has given us all the shake to be the only unbeaten side in Hogg Premier after three rounds. Unbeaten sides tumbled and winless wonders saluted in a round where the competition tightened considerably. Promoted Hips Don't Lie has made an excellent return to the top flight and they disposed of the Sharks who fell to their first defeat of the season. Other sides to suffer the same fate included Richo Richo who didn't score well again and was beaten and Ecky's Fevs who did score well but were knocked over by Captain Who in a classic clash. Previously unbeaten Delicious were locked out by the inner sanctum so this left Hips Don't Lie as the only unbeaten side.

While the Captain saluted for the first time he was not along in launching the maiden voyage. The Ippy connection both recorded their first wins as REBCats accounted for an unlucky Hondo who copped Kelly and Whitfield and then both of us copped the Demons. Poon came from behind in his match to defeat FISH who have scaled back their scoring in recent matches.

A couple of well credentialed Hogg teams are struggling to get going this season. Richo Richo isn't setting the world on fire but at least he is winning matches. Hondo is another regular Hogg finalist but right now he's mired in a relegation dogfight with newly promoted Wadey. I can't recall Hondo dropping three straight before but I bet it hasn't happened too many times. The reigning premier Benny Rolfs has not got warm at all this season and they were flogged by Q who is having his best start for years. As mentioned TEAM_FISH is another side who is starting to find the going tough as well. As for teams on the rise Hippy of course is one of those but another promoted side Roosters has won their way into the top eight and looks set for a lengthy stay. Q Man is fine form and Inner Sanctum is also on the march.

Hogg Premier is doing a good impersonation of the regular AFL competition at the moment with last year's top sides continuing to struggle while different combinations have surged into contention. Newly promoted Hips Don't Lie is continuing on from a strong Division I season in 2019 and remains unbeaten and top of the pile after accounting for last year's beaten grand finalist in Poon who languish at 1-3 and in 14th position. Reigning premier Benny Rolfs is at a career lowpoint fielding two donuts against the grateful REBCats who gleefully scooped up the points to go to a 2-2 record. Perennial heavyweight Hondo remains winless as well after perennial straggler Sharks handed out a 133 point touch up as the Sharks sailed into the top four on the back of a league high 2302.

FISH emerged after a fortnight of subpar scoring with a solid win over the Captain who is scoring ok but not winning matches. Richo Richo looks to be getting back into form as well and his win over Delicious sees valleys out of the eight. Roosters and Chicken Twisties are two of the new power teams and they all had big wins to consolidate their positions near the top of the ladder and Has Been and Eckys are also looking good but it's Hips Don't Lie that we are all chasing even if he was a bit lucky to salute against Poon last week.

For every success there is a failure and newly promoted Wadey has yet to crack his Hogg Premier duck. He's down there with Hondo who is in unfamiliar surrounds at number eighteen with a burger ring in the bag. Plenty of the gun sides need a big lift and we will all be watching the reigning premier with interest to see if they are non-players this season. It's been a while since we had a reigning premier that has faded so badly so a non-player scenario might be on the cards which is good news for the sides currently in the bottom two.
