Reasonable to think the top flight starts first and the leagues below follow.

Had that discussion with my lad last week. He was of the opinion that surely the bush leagues with less people & chance of transmission should get the green light first. I said Nup - AFL won't wear that, its them first, every day of the week. They ain't playing second fiddle to the hicks!
They might not have a choice if a state government gets in first.....

You think the SANFL would tell the AFL to mind it's own business? Track record suggests that's highly unlikely.

This is where the SANFL needs to show some balls, if SA is miles ahead of other states, then there needs to be some goodwill to allow community footy at least to start.

AFL shouldn't be able to stop recreation.

Its not the AFL's business though. Well not the competition that is the AFL.

The AFL as the national sport association should be encouraging the sport to recommence where and when it can at any level.

Gov advice is really clear, States to follow directives from their Health Departments. Not really the AFL competitions business if the the Port Lincoln Football League or the SANFL start up following local directives.

A good chance to the AFL to act like a National Sporting Association and not a National Competition with some ''game development' outcomes attached so they can control Sport Australia Funding.

Look at how AFL refusing to let teams outside of Vic train in groups of 10.

Lets remember it was Rowey that said all this in the 1st instance.

It would be a PR disaster for the AFL if they insisted on them starting first, they would turn footballers and families against them which would have a massive flow on effect.

Correct... as i said before, a nice opportunity for the AFL to think and act like a National Sporting Association and not just a national comp.

If kids in the NT, SA and maybe WA have to sit and wait to train and play, despite local advice saying its ok then a massive PR disaster looms.

Agreed, I take what he says with a pinch of salt, there's no doubt in my mind the AFL would want some free air time ahead of everything else though.

I wonder if AFL are predicting an earlier start around early June? That would match community footy plans.

They could actually play Round 2 inside each state, before travel is needed, every non-victorian team plays their derby and the victorian teams play in Melbourne.

How good for the sanfl and other state leagues like WAFL to be up and running before AFL. Could also get some air on ch7 main channel.
If they do go ahead with double headers at AO the ratings you'd think would be decent with footy starved fans.

You're at the golf course telling your mates you're sick of not getting to spend so much time with the lads, when you get home you're telling her enough is enough. Deep down inside you know you're not going to say anything.

You're the SANFL. She's the AFL.

Yep this 100%. No chance the SANFL stands up to the AFL and no chance the AFL shows goodwill to state/country leagues. Their goodwill is in the dollars they provide.

I think we're all going to be pleasantly surprised on this one, it seems as though the SANFL players are willing to play for bugger all, it will go ahead, possibly before the AFL starts.
