Angaston Oval is worse than the one you pictured, we have a very good turf deck, elevate it, have a gap in the middle the same as Glenelg does for drainage and you cant go wrong. Any water on the pitch only has 6m to travel. There is also very good super soppers available at a great price that work a treat if you run them on the pitch just before the footy commences. all the issues can be addressed if theres enough will to do it

Angaston is worse than this??????

Yep just ask the Tanunda and Barossa players who played in a 1-0 finals match a few years ago. not a blade of grass to be seen

In the TVCA we have 3 teams jostling for the final 2 spots with a fortnight remaining, with Palmer and Gumeracha assured of finals action.

Palmer 11-1-4 (Gum, Rose Park remaining games)- Undefeated during the past 9 rounds, firming as flag favourites
Gumeracha 11-1-4 (Palmer, Cambrai)- Meet Palmer this week which may decide top spot. Better depth this season

Lenswood 10-6 (Paracombe, Birdy)- May need to win both to remain in the 4. Inconsistent since winning first 5 games
Cambrai 10-6 (Mt T, Gum)- Like Lenswood may need to win both as NRR is average. Batting depth a concern
Rose Park 9-7 (Birdy, Palm)- Superior NRR to Lenswood and Cambrai but still a game back

Paracombe 7-9- The reigning champs will miss finals for the first time in 8 years
Mt Torrens 3-1-12- Have played some good cricket but cant win the close ones
Birdwood 1-1-14- Reasonably competitive over the past 6 weeks, some young talent with the ball

In the B Grade, Paracombe, Gumeracha and Eden Valley will play finals, while it’s highly likely Cambrai will finish ahead of Lenswood for 4th spot. Eden Valley the form team at the moment.

In encouraging news, the TVCA U21s have beaten Great Southern and AEHCA the past fortnight, so will confront Hills in a couple of weeks time. The bulk of the team is from Palmer, Lenswood and Birdwood.

TVCA semis

A Grade:

Palmer v Cambrai – The skunks had a win in R5, but Palmer rolled them for 48 the last time they met
Gumeracha v Lenswood – Lenswood won back in R1, but the Magpies had the better of the other 2 contests

B Grade:

Gumeracha v Cambrai – The magpies should win this, beat the Skunks by 50 last round
Paracombe v Eden Valley – EV are the form team, could go either way

If the temp remains at 40 or above, the home sides will proceed without a ball being bowled. The by-laws are likely to be changed for next season to minimise the risk of this happening again.

In the U21's Figg Cup, TVCA thumped HCA by 10 wickets. HCA won the 13s, AEHCA the 15s.

2 Rounds to go in A&EHCA and the Premiership race is wide open with 5 genuine contenders with the current FORM side of the comp Lobethal unable to make the Finals despite winning their last 6 matches which have included wins over Hahndorf, Strath & Nairne.

A Grade Table

Woodside 48
Hahndorf 46
Strath 46
Nairne 40
L Creek 38

Lobethal 28
Brem/Call 26
Wistow 16
Mt Barker 4

Woodside or Hahndorf seem the most likely of the Top 3 to be Minor Premiers tho Strath are still a slight chance but unlikely.

The most interesting battle is between Nairne & L Creek for 4th spot. Nairne have not missed Finals since 2007/08 but are being put under huge pressure by the Creeks who have got their shit together the last 3 weeks with 3 fantastic wins in what have basically been all Elimination Finals. They started with an upset win over Hahndorf, followed by a courageous win over Wistow despite fielding a depleted team and then last Saturday narrowly won over Nairne who blew their chance to put a lock on 4th spot but have now left the door ajar
Simply put, the Creeks to get in need to win 1 game more than Nairne in last 2 rounds.
Both teams have tough games to finish off with
Nairne play Woodside and Hahndorf whilst Creeks host the in form Lobethal followed by a trip up the road to Strathalbyn.

Been a long while since the A Grade comp has been this competitive with very little between the top 6 teams and whilst the bottom 3 have struggled a bit, they all have had at least 1 upset win over a top 6 side.
Wistow beat Lobethal in round 6
Brem / Call thrashed Woodside in round 8
Mt Barker chased down 261 against the Creeks in round 7

If the forecast Temp for Adelaide stays at 40c for Saturday ALL Grades will be called off with the exception of the A Grade which will still go ahead albeit under the reduced 35 per side format instead of 45.
Promises to be a very intriguing last 4 weeks of the season

Have the option to play on Sunday and/or revise the heat rule for finals (ie lift it to 42 degrees and/or start earlier if possible and/or play a shortened 35 over match). Even with these revisions weather may still impact the match, but at least there are some contingencies.

As it stands now, the grand final can be played on the following Saturday if it doesn’t proceed on the planned date.

Like all clubs we’ve been training and playing since the start of September, so for our season to end on this note will be quite a let down. (especially as we rarely make finals  )

A remarkable round of results in the penultimate minor round matches in A&EHCA sees an even more intriguing battle for Finals spots than one could have imagined.
Creeks kept their season alive by belting the in form Lobethal with Ben Warren doing what he has done for the best part of 20 years, that is belting up on teams that are a little under strength as Lobey were Saturday. Smashing 81 off 57 balls and then following it up with 4/20 with the ball, he's a strong chance to take out his 1st "Shaun Tait Cricketer of the Year Award" since it was introduced in 2005/06

Nairne who are under Big pressure for their 4th spot responded with a win over Woodside to remain 1/2 a win ahead of the Creeks whilst Woodside has now lost Top spot again.

Hahndorf took top spot back from Woodside after receiving a scare from Wistow. Hahndorf accumulated 9/209 after oddly being sent into bat in the hot conditions. Dan Jenner almost single handedly got Wistow over the line with a brilliant 117 but with little support they failed by 21 runs

Now for the SHOCK UPSET of the round
Strath were still a chance of snaring Top spot but are now incredibly in a position that they could miss the finals all together
Chasing Bremer / Callingtons 112 on the turf at Callington, Strath were cruising to a regulation win at 1/50 and then incredibly lost 9/13 to be ALL OUT for 65 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE SCENES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tho the Callington pitch has certainly been tough to bat on this season by all reports which has been backed by low scores there all season, surely there can be little excuse for a collapse of that magnitude.

In the wash up of all that the Top 5 now reads
Hahndorf 50
Woodside 48
Strath 46
Nairne 44
L Creek 42

This week
Strath play Creek
Nairne play Hahndorf
Woodside play Lobethal

Woodside can reclaim top spot with a win and Hahndorf losing
L Creek need to beat Strath and rely on Nairne losing to Hahndorf but as a result of last week shock loss by Strath , Creeks can also get in the 4 by beating Strath and overtaking them on NRR At the moment the differential is 0.16 in Straths favour but a decisive win by the Creeks may see them go ahead of Strath
Nairne need to beat Hahndorf to ensure their spot in the Finals otherwise they are relying on the Creeks to lose if they do as well.

With rumors flying around that most of the Top 5 sides (Creeks, Nairne & Hahndorf in particular) will have key players missing at some stage over the next few weeks, the Premiership has never been as wide open

Theres 2 Awards

The All Rounder Award calculated on points for runs, wickets and catches etc Im not sure if it's the same points system as to how MyCricket calculates it tho?

The Shaun Tait Award is for the Most Brilliant A Grade cricketer in A&EHCA and is voted on by the umpires on a 3 - 2 - 1 basis each match so often there are 2 different recipients of each award.

And if rumors are correct Warren will be in China next weekend so he wont be bothering Jenner for the All Rounders Award.

Daniel's had a fair year with the bat, 908 runs so far.

Do the T20's count for umpire votes?

TVCA Grand Finals:

Palmer v Gumeracha @ Birdwood
Gumeracha v Paracombe @ Mt Torrens

Semis were abandoned. Very hollow way for Lenswood, Cambrai (both grades) and Eden Valley to end their season.

My care factor is quite low for the GF results. All 3 clubs have had plenty of success over the past half a dozen seasons. If I had to tip winners I'd go Palmer and Gumeracha (b's).

Looks like a cracking final round coming up in the AEHCA.

Tough break saintal. If they beat you on the day, so be it, but to not get a crack sucks. The three affect clubs have all battled their way up in that time too.
Guess the other problem in setting a TVCA heat rule is 40 (?) in Adelaide is a playable 37-38 in some areas but Palmer, Cambrai could be 43.
