I think theres another challenge due on thursday.

Bill Shorten is loving it, but god help the world if he is in charge.

The emergence of the far right political figures like One Nation, Corey Bernardi and Fraser Anning have made obvious that the modern Liberal party is actually closer to the middle than we thought.

The difference is more about union influence v big business influence rather than political ideologies these days IMO. Modern media including social media tends to smooth out the far left or right edges from what Labour and Liberal candidates can or want to really say. Those extreme positions are now left to the Greens on the left or the various personalities on the right. No-one in mainstream government can go to these extreme edges anymore and that clearly upsets far right or left elements within those parties, moreso the Liberal party it seems.

I think the Liberals are actually that centre party or at least occupying the space. Nick X was trying to edge into that space but he found at the SA State election that the Liberals are already there and so was seen as just another moderate-Liberal independent politician.

I think now it's these extreme parties or the independents of any persuasion that have to play the "keep the parties honest" role, rather than a new party.

Turnbull, Pyne, Bishop, Birmingham think they are I reckon

Centrist that is

I think at its essence that’s the problem. The divide between them and the names you listed.

Meanwhile, the corporate tax cuts passed through the Senate 35-34 after Pauline didn't turn up to vote. The Libs need to go... hope Mal calls an election before he is usurped and the party gets annihilated at the polls.

I think the biggest division at the moment is within the liberal party.

The centre right libs are being held over a barrel by the far right loonies like Abbott and Dutton

A Turnbull led government without the hinderances of the far right would be quite good imo

So you're all about trickle down economics, cutting hard earned penalty rates and giving big banks a tax break Benny.

Can't say I'm not shocked.

he has also given his support for same sex marriage, emissions trading, and would have delivered a decent NBN had abbott not tried to shaft Turnbull through it.

Not saying he is perfect, and ive never voted libs before, but if we have to have a liberal govt id much rather Turnbull or bishop than Dutton or Morrison

The libs took government on....the debt deficit campaign then in 6 years its tripled.

They have no idea how to run government. Full of self interest and self promotion.
Bishop being one of the worst offenders.

Yep, Turnbull has declared the leadership vacant

That escalated quickly!

As a centrist I can live with Turnbull but Dutton would be close to the worst possible option
And centralist?

You?

Closer to left than Central.

Now it seems Turnbull will get a tap on the shoulder ( does he really need to be told? ) and the party room will pick either Dutton or Morrison to be our next un-elected prime minister.

Neither is a good choice. Dutton is probably my tip to get up and I not sure that's a good thing.

Then again neither is Bill Shorten.

Bloody hell, things look good at the moment.
