I won an under 9 and under 10 B&F at Smithfield, probably on par.

At that age at Smithfield you would have celebrated with a VB can and a durrie surely?

Yeh, and he might bring Hannebery with him.

I noticed it was more boys v men out there today.

Another one we should target, Tucker from Freo.

Eddie is the only player we have lost that has really hurt.
Jacobs was young and no one knew he’d turn out this good.
Gibbs, well he gave us good service but we good compensation for him.
Waite, he was a bit of loss initially but was injury prone.
Henderson and Touhy would be average players still if they stayed at Carlton.

Unfortunately players don’t develop at Carlton.
That’s our biggest problem.

At least you got the best out of Judd in his last few years instead of all of Kennedy's career, that was a great swap.

I was happy with that at the time and still am.
Kennedy would have struggled as would any key forward playing at Carlton.

It was a win/win for all.

I can't see how it was win/win. You get Judd so you can have someone win the ball and kick it forward, then you've got nobody there to mark it. Chicken and the egg I guess.

Keep Kennedy and Jacobs and numerous others and Kennedy might have been a chance to flourish. Anywho, it's not the players you've lost who have set you back another 10 years, it was the idiots who sacked Ratten to get Malthouse, they are the ones you can blame for your current position.

If Ratten was still there you'd argue many of the players who have left would still be there.

Sticks did so much for this club, yet it was his call to get Malthouse & sack Ratten.

Sticks is a Carlton legend(and Glenelg) but it is the biggest mistake he ever made at the club.
It wasn’t solely his decision but a poor one nonetheless.

Hate to say it, but I agree with you(except the Kennedy swap).

The club needs to go after a big personality either as a consultant or full time employee to attract the right people to the club.
Get Paul Roos as a consultant, or Justin Maddern back in some part time capacity.
Get Sam Mitchell on board as an assistant coach.

I don’t care what it cost in terms of $$.

The AFL can give us 6 priority picks in this years draft if they want but it won’t change anything until the club gets the right people in the right positions.

I’m not sold on Bolton as coach but he needs help with senior figures around him.

Bolton is a scapegoat, he's there to carry the can while the club turns the list over and finish in the bottom few and when there's light at the end of the tunnel they'll poach the right coach or senior assistant for the job. There's no way he's there in 3-4 years time and there's no way anyone who see's themselves as a career coach would have taken that job.

Boon, the only reason I beleive Bolton will be there long-er term is because he's not really contracted per se. He's a permanent staff member, which may mean little but for us members, speaks volumes in regard to where we have come from and where we're heading.

When he was brought on, we needed a rebuild. We could've taken on a 60 yo useless pr*ck who drove us into the ground and given him a 10 year contract or give it to someone who can grow with the group.

I think he can coach because we continually show glimpses, with a half talented list of kids. The proof will be in the pudding when Curnow, McKay, Fisher, O'Brien, Polson grow up and get some pre-seasons into them.

The overriding issue for me is that we generally do not develop our kids well enough! If we don't get that right, they can fill out body wise and be completely useless. Unfortunately Bolton will be judged on several elements, this being one of them.

The secondary issue for me is that we have poor on field leadership, something we need to rectify QUICKLY. Get McVeigh in, he should be our priority IMO, as a playing assistant coach.

If he's got a 4 year deal ahead you know you don't have the money to pay him out so you're stuck with him, with this method they can boot him whenever they want. The club has him set up perfectly for a quick exit whenever they are ready.

I thought the same when Hawthorn appointed Clarkson in 04 Just an interim coach until we could pry Lethal out of Brisbane.
Who wouldve thought back then that he would be a 4 time and still going strong in 2018.
