What? A record score for a match played on April 21st starting at 2:40 p.m. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 North scores against Norwood higher than yesterday's game.

1. A fairly significant game that I wasn't alive for but know all about; the 1952 Grand Final N.A. 23-15 Nwd 6-9
2. A game that North actually lost at Norwood on May 3rd 1975; Nwd 26-22 NA 24-12
3. Another I remember well on May 6th 1995; NA 21-13 to Norwood 10-15 : Brendon Parker kicked 6 goals that day
4. One just before my time at Prospect on June 2nd 1934, an unknown called Farmer kicked 13 goals 3 behinds in a score of NA 26-16 to Norwood 14-21.

There are probably others. Where do the media get their incorrect stats from?

RIG
i reckon this might be North Adelaide highest score ?

Round 6
Norwood v North Adelaide
Adelaide Oval ,Saturday , June the 2nd in 1934

The winner of the this match, North Adelaide, ended up in the top 4 at the completion of the round
North Adelaide climbed to 2nd spot
Norwood dropped to 5th spot
Birks had their 70th anniversary sale
John Martins had Joma bikes out at 5 and a half pounds
The weather forecast was fine at first and unsettled later

NA 7-7...13-10...22-13...26.16 [172]
NW 2-7...7-12....11.14...14-21 [105]

I reckon North Adelaides Ken Farmer , Sydney Burton, Jack Mackay , Rex Walter all had good form during the season
Alos reckon Norwoods Lavington Chinnery and Tom Woodroofe had good form during the season

As for this match
Made no difference at seasons end both sides missed the finals
NA with 9.5 season wins did better than Norwoods 5 wins
Glenelg won its first ever Premiership the year of 1934, after being in bottom spot at the end of round 6

They didnt play any South Australian football from 5/8/1934 until 18/8/1934
It was probably because Adelaide hosted the Claxton Shield and South Australia won

North scored 23-14 against Norwood later in the 1934 season at Prospect Oval

Apologies if any of this post is incorrect
It was such a long time ago

My apologies JTC , thanks for the spell_check

That 26-16 scoreline in 1934 might have been a great achievement
Tom Woodroofe and Jack Chinnery probably played in that match
Tom was the usual Norwood full back, whilst Jack was the usual back pocket for Norwood

Tom Woodroofe was considered a very very good defender in his playing days
I just wonder if he stood Ken Farmer at all that day, the champion rooster kicked 13-3 that match

The 23-14 North score in later 1934, might just be the highest score by North against Norwood at Prospect oval ?

The same TV that said that Tropeano was runner up in the Sandover Medal. He is a Sandover Medallist.

And the same TV that said that Norwood since 2010 have won 6 out of the last 8 at Prospect. North won at Prospect in 2012, 2013 and 2016.

Maybe I am anal but if they are going to throw stats around willy nilly they might have a modicum of accuracy. Just not good enough.

Norwood captain Jace Bode has been offered a two-match ban with an early guilty plea for striking North Adelaide’s Robbie Young at Prospect Oval on Saturday.
Jace Bode (Norwood) – Striking
Conduct: Intentional
Impact: Medium
Contact: Body
Base Sanction: 3 Matches
Early Plea: 2 Matches
Bode will have until 10am on Tuesday to decide whether he will contest or accept the charge.

I didn't see it, but I saw the incident before and then Young down on the ground holding a tender area. I guessed that it was Bode. On the TV they said they were searching for the vision of what happened to Young. They didn't show anything but they must have found something.
It happened in the first quarter so clearly it didn't have any lasting effect on Young.

Whacked him in the nuts I think. Bode threw a couple into Hender on the ground not long after that as well.

Yeah he did, pretty low dog act if intentional but after their latest recruit nothing would surprise.
Norwood were an undisciplined rabble on Saturday but their recruiting staff haven't set the bar real high.

Toot toot!
In all seriousness though, bit lucky this week as its the first Sunday I haven't worked in months and Woodville is 5 mins from my place.
Last time I went to two games in a row was 2016, bit I'm not there yet. ;)

Yeah its all it could have been and yes Norwood tried to unsettle North but didnt do a good job. Not sure Bode is the one to be the hit man though. In fact Youngs ball would have been the hardest Bode has got for awhile.

I know I barred up watching Young's 6 goals. Some of them were better than anything in the AFL on the weekend.

I'm surprised the couple thrown at Hender weren't looked at unless they didn't really connect, the punches looked pretty obvious.

Whilst I am having a whinge about Channel 7, instead of throwing out incorrect stats, they could have acknowledged the gentleman tossing the coin at the start of the match. Darcy Cox is a dual North premiership player (1949 and 1952) who also served in the Second World War. He looked remarkably spritely for a 93 year old. A hero in my eyes but obviously not in the eyes of Channel 7. The club had advised them before the game of Darcy tossing the coin but obviously World War 2 veterans who then came back to play in SANFL premierships aren't important in their eyes.
One sentence was all that they needed.

Bode appealed against the suspension, but was still found guilty. He will therefore miss 3 matches. As I said before I didn't see the incident so I can't comment other than that the story doing the rounds is that Bode is the best ball handler since Lindsay Head.

Norwood must be doing well if their captain is going around punching young blokes in the balls, mind you when his club sets the example by recruiting people like Josh Glenn its not suprising.
