Unfortunately correct
Very disappointing
1st time i can ever remember having to forfeit a Senior team
Have a total of at least 22 Senior players (Including 10 A Graders) unavailable this week plus 3 under 14s that have filled in the last week or 2 are also unavailable.
Work commitments is the main Problem along with the Handpicked Festival next door that has accounted for about half a dozen as well as any fill ins that we may have got.
Had 16 available for B and D Grade

Certainly didnt make the decision lightly as it was 1 of only 3 HOME games for our D Grade.
Im sure it will only be a 1 off Forfeit
Were you looking at having a game on the Turf?

It's the second forfeit already for our thirds this season. Our numbers are excellent which is great. I know the lads are disappointed to not be having a game. The turf is always good fun. Personally I was hoping to have a hit last week, but due to work only got back over home by late arvo Saturday. So getting to Finiss was out of the question. Good luck for the rest of the summer Jackpot, the return game with your boys will be good. Doubt that I will be back to play though.

Condolences to the Kangarilla Cricket Club and community, only played against him last week :(

It is with great sadness we announce that our club historian, club statistician, C Grade Captain and Under 14 Coach and Club legend Craig “Percy” Stevens passed away yesterday afternoon, after yet another unbeaten innings for his Club.

Our thoughts are with his family at this tragic time.

Thanks also to the members of the Flagstaff Hill CC for their assistance to our team at the ground.

A Nairne A2 player has been suspended for 6 matches for an incident on the weekend involving striking an opposition player with his bat.
Allegedly copped a send off after being dismissed and reacted to it.
Not condoning his actions at all but thats what can happen when players think they're heroes by gobbing off unnecessarily

Totally agree Jackpot. The blokes out, you've had your win, no need for a spray as well. I was guilty of doing the same thing though in my younger days (the spray not the reaction) you get wiser as you get older. Testosterone.

Adelaide Strikers are playing an internal trial at Strathalbyn Oval next Friday the 15th from 2pm if anyone's interested. Bit of an odd time but anyway.

The new multi-million dollar facilities combined with what's already arguably one of the very best country cricket venues in the state is really paying off for Strath. This, ACA T20 earlier in the year, about to host Meyer Shield matches, and an AFL match all within 12 months (possibly an SANFL match too next year - tbc).

Surprised the odd district cricket game isn't played there anymore - the cricket club spends an absolute mint on upkeeping wonderful turf decks and a bowling green outfield plus turf training facilities.

TVCA ladder with 5 rounds remaining:

Paracombe 85*- Have dropped a few games after an impressive start but still the team to beat. Top order making runs.
Lenswood 75- Important win at Cambrai on Saturday. Have been uncharacteristically consistent, need to maintain it.
Gumeracha 75*- Perhaps lack the depth of some other sides but remain in the hunt. Two individuals having big seasons for them.
Mt Torrens 70*- Keep winning tight games and have exceeded expectations this year.

Cambrai 65*- Weaker line up than previous years but have reasonable depth.
Rose Park 65- Starting to hit their straps with wins against Paracombe and Gumeracha. Score quickly.
Palmer 55- The reigning premiers have been inconsistent, appear to have an unsettled line up this season
Eden Valley 25- Two wins against Birdwood the highlight. Have been better in recent rounds after an uncompetitive period.
Birdwood 5*- Fell just a few runs short of ending a three year losing drought against Mt Torrens on Saturday

* denotes team still has bye remaining

Very even comp this year, and with the exception of the bottom 2, all other sides very much in the finals mix. I’ve liked the shift to 45 over games (from 40), although many have finished in the 6:30 territory.

The B grade comp has sadly been a bit shambolic. Gumeracha withdrew after Round 2, Eden Valley officially pulled their team at xmas after forfeiting most of their games, while Rose Park also forfeited a few games. A few other clubs (ie Lenswood) struggling week to week to find 11. After not fielding a team last summer, Mt Torrens look the team to beat with Cambrai to challenge again for a third straight flag.

Meyer Shield Squad

Medlow (Paracombe), Smith, Snoad, Druwitt (Lenswood), Mapstone, Kavanagh, Dutschke (Gumeracha), Eichler (Cambrai), Ali, Abbassi (Rose Park), Orchard-Roesler, Tucker (Eden Valley), Higgins (Birdwood).

A few notable omissions/absences as per usual, but should be reasonably competitive. KICA on day one if weather permits.

Nice wrap Saintal.

I try to keep an eye on my old club MTCCC. I understand there was some kind of issue in their recent game with Birdwood, that required some assoc intervention. Not really sure what went down, but has been resolved reading the FB page.

Interesting. Was chatting to a MT player Saturday night at the pub and nothing was mentioned other than they probably got out of jail with a win.

As I read the issue, it was more on the other side than the MT side. The officiating umpire is/was/has threatened to stand down from umpiring in the future.... something along those lines.

Ok. Yes there have been some issues with umpire treatment this year and league held a meeting last Thursday to address this as 1 or 2 have indicated they will probably give it away after this year.

Out of interest what period/era did you play for MT?

Played juniors there late seventies.

Played seniors through the early to later 80's.

Lenswood were in the Hills comp back then I think.

I was in the Tub Fechner, Craig Schubert, John & Paul Presbury along with Dave & Steve Schultz era.

Meyer shield will now be a T/20 comp, due to heat. What a ******* joke!

Do you think they should have soldiered on with one day matches? Cancelled altogether? Or tried to play it later in the season?

It's a brave new world out there now, and if someone went down with heat stroke - God Forbid the fallout. The long weekend is the only time it can be scheduled. FWIW - I think they could have stayed with the one day games, start earlier, more drinks breaks etc. How long as the Meyer Shield been going for? They survived in the 60's, 70's 80's etc. What next, play the country carnival (the serious one) as T/20 if its hot?
