Theses things LIFT your team mates around you. Because there isn't a stat for this, you want to gloss over it?

Which lasts all of 15 seconds. Same as a rev up. Not wanting to gloss over it. It's a factor. A player than can win a contested ball or beat up on a opponent has that feather in their cap no doubt.

I just think we put too way too much of a weight on the perceived courageous acts instead of looking at things with a more dispassionate viewpoint.

One of the reasons for this is - there are many types of courage. There are many different measures of it. You cannot always spot it either. Gut running when you probably physically shouldn't is courage. Running onto the ground with a hidden injury is courage. Playing when you're not mentally healthy is courage. Playing in a position your uncomfortable with is courage. Executing a skill when you're nervous or under pressure is courage.

But nah, everyone remembers Johnno Brown took that great mark once. So courageous. But forget the time Warren Tredrea got off his death bed ridden with flu ala Michael Jordan and single handedly destroyed a team in a cut throat final.

See what I mean?

I think Morrell needs to lay down for a while.
To suggest Brown only ever took one good mark in his career ......

I think it's pretty close. Their records stack up pretty well against each other

Brown:
256 games 594 goals
2 time AA
3 time B&F
1 Coleman Medal
5x Brisbane leading goal kicker
3 premierships

Tredrea:
255 games 549 goals
4 time AA
4 time B&F
8 time port leading goal kicker
1 premiership

The three flags gets Brown over the line imo. But it certainly is close.

Pavlich really should be starting though ahead of both brown and Riewoldt.

Pav:
353 games 700 goals
6 time B&F
6 time AA (one of those at full back!)
8 time freo leading goal kicker

Riewoldt
332 games 713 goals
6 time B&F
5 time AA
5 time st kilda leading goal kicker
AFL Rising Star

these stats end the argument
Based on 'feel for the game' (which is a real thing I am told). if I was to pick a side and had to rate these in order, it would be Pav, Riewoldt, Brown then Tredrea.

I agree. It's all quite close.

If people want to make a case for Brown or whoever, that's fine.

But people in this thread had shit like:

" I wouldn't even consider Tredrea" and "Brown is the best player I've seen"

I mean really?! When their overall output sees Tredrea ahead and highly comparable at absolute worst?!

But nah Brown is a lock and Tredrea is not even considered. It's that logic that I'm attacking as much as anything.

Unfortunately Morrell you need to realise that other people can have an opinion that is not the same as you doesn't make them wrong.

Brown at FF is crazy, and that's not even taking into account Tredrea not being on the bench.

Tredders' best was as good, and arguably better than the other key forward contenders, but his dip in form after injury was easily the most significant too.

If Brown was to be selected, it had to be at CHF.

That being said, I would have had Riewoldt at CHF and Pavlich at FF. Tredrea on bench in recognition of his 4 AA. 4 consecutive AA in the most difficult position on the ground deserves some recognition!

Ahhh yes. The old "it's my opinion and I am entitled to it" defense. Well ok, I profoundly disagree with that entire notion, but if you express your opinion, publicly, and it's manifestly incorrect, expect people to point that out.

Explain to me how Tredrea can win more All Australians, win more Best and Fairests, win his teams goal kicking more times ... but Brown is a lock and Tredrea shouldnt be considered.

Fine, if you like Brown's style and would prefer him in your team, I get that, but you agreed with whats his face that Tredrea shouldn't even be considered.

That's not opinion, that's just utter rubbish.

Sorry for the consternation I have caused.

Caused me no consternation at all, don't flatter yourself.

But the past two weeks every time someone has not agreed with your point of view it has turned into pages of waffle.

Different teams have different set ups. Lynch and Bradshaw where two pretty good FF when Brown was playing

You are right, I did say I wouldn't consider Tredrea and even after all this I still wouldn't consider him.

Just my opinion ;)
