PG had a player who's sledging was way overboard, the game got very heated at times, they sent out an old fella to umpire that wasn't part of the game and blatantly cheated with a couple of caught behinds, a Gardens player went nuts at his team mate for giving him out when there was a clear edge (to which he admitted later that he should've just walked).
Then a Gardens player got struck in the head not wearing a lid and they lost a heap of time, it was pretty scary apparently.
By all reports PG had a similar game the round before, but given the icy relationship between the two clubs over the past 18 months it was always going to be a bit lively.
There was no umpire for day one on the weekend but one will be sent out for this week.
Being involved at Smithfield for a long time and knowing who's there, they can get pretty chirpy and usually more at each other for a laugh, it's probably not the wisest thing to get personal to them and start bringing geographics and stereotypes into it, you will come off second best.
lol that is 100% bullcrap.
old bloke from smithfield carrying on from the start of play. our bloke was merely celebrating himself taking wickets. never once did he give a send off. I admittedly left at 5 because of prior arrangements so I missed the bloke getting hit.
im an honest bloke... in regards to the sledging, it was 2 teams from the north having a red hot crack. no punches were thrown, play on

In other news, another outright victory to Smithfield I see! Can they be stopped?!

Finish 2nd bottom in Grade 4 last season, and get pushed up to Grade 3 Go figure!
Although wouldn't say really struggling, just cant seem to get a win! Took 8/34 against North Pines to lose by 2 wickets, then took 9/82 Saturday to lose by 1 wicket to ATCO, then hit 5/148.
Just need to score more runs in the 1st innings so have a decent target to bowl at - but with the exception of Round 1, and half of Round 2, have been mostly competitive and could easily be 2-2.

DS played his 400th game before last and smacked 100 off 50 balls to celebrate.

Yeah, I seen that, fair effort.
I played one game for Salisbury West many moons ago and he was the captain, whenever any p[layer under 20 fielded the ball he'd say "well done, youth".
A pain in the arse to play against but a true stalwart of the club and the PDCA in general.

It wasn't an official ump , was one of their own blokes who wasn't even playing.. but he certainly had an impact !

Did someone nick one and not walk, that really gets on smithfields nerves even with a proper umpire

So, you don't make it easier on your mates when they're umpiring and walk?
Official umps, I understand not walking, but not when they're team or club mates. Asking for trouble.
