If grounds had high LUX lights and state of the art sightscreens then you wouldn't need it but these are suburban ovals.
Completely changes how the game is played. What if a gale is blowing from one end? What if there is a left and right hander batting together and they need to take turns each over hitting over a short legside boundary? Can't do that effectively with 5 at each end. It has too much bearing on the game compared to over by over end changes.
