Sturt haven't beaten the Eagles for a couple of years, right? What's the Eagles' winning streak v Sturt in finals?

The Eagles make GFs, but don't win too many (33% Strike Rate isn't great).
Sturt weren't that bad last week - Eagles kicked the 1st 4 goals, then even after that - very similar scenario to 2015 actually.

Eagles had a stranglehold on that game. Sturt just couldn't convert despite the large number of forward 50 entries. The Eagles just had to maintain a holding pattern after going 4 goals up. The only thing promising for Sturt was they prevented the Eagles from going even further in front. I dare say that if the Eagles had been trailing at 3/4 time, they would have done enough to win by two goals still. They looked in control, and a Sydney win this weekend will deliver the Thomas Seymour Hill on a platter for them.

Don't get too carried away. I feel pretty nervous about this one. 1998 was the only previous Adelaide v Sydney semi-final, also at the SCG, where Sydney went in warm favourites and Adelaide played sensational footy to knock 'em out (looked like the premiers they later became). Sydney has now lost its last 4 finals including a home SF loss as part of a straight-sets exit in 2015, and has a poor record in extremely close ones this year. (Including, surprisingly, 2 losses by less than a goal where they were beaten by more or less the last kick of the game, at the SCG.) If it was being played at Homebush I would tip Adelaide; it's only the fact that it's at the SCG that makes it lean to Sydney. But I don't think I'll be able to watch, if it's down to less than a kick in the final 3 minutes.

All out of concern for Sturt, of course.

Freos 17 AFL players going strong in the WAFL despite their A Grade being on holidays a month ago. I wouldn't get too excited about Sturt even when the Swans win.

As are the 18 Demons players at Casey and the dozen or so Collingwood players at their VFL side

Different story. They actually want to win.

Ravens winning this flag will only cause an outcry to the current system. They do not want any changes to the current system.

They will NOT win this flag.

Really? Why field 21 AFL listed players against South then? Why is Van Berlo hanging around? I think Adelaide will go for it no matter what happens in the AFL - and they will win big.

The AFL sides were always saying that things would even out during the second half of a season when they copped more injuries and couldn't field a strong side. They conveniently didn't mention what would happen when they had a full list and the SANFL sides had long injury lists.

Yes, they often tell us things like this current situation is rare, usually there will be injuries etc. whenever anyone of their parrots is asked the question about how strong the Ravens are right now. They are basically saying that their squad is in actual fact too strong now, and the only way they can be beaten is for injuries to occur.
Leaves us in the ridiculous position of wanting injuries to occur to players.

Back to topic, I have been hoping or otherwise, but I think Wedgie might be on the money with his gloomy prediction. The Ravens are now one step from a Grand Final. Even if the Crows get pantsed at the SCG they'll most likely come out firing and wanting a taste of Grand Final footy, and then a premiership. I am afraid that the only way for Sturt to win this weekend will be to beat a Ravens side playing with a total drive to win also.

My hip pocket says yes after taking the $4.20 at 1/4 time of the elimination final v The Dogs.

They were one minor round win away from making the finals last year - what you said here viewtopic.php?p=2014003#p2014003 , may well have happened then, and West Adelaide fans will be thankful it didn't.

Crows ladder position at the end of the minor round is a false indication as to how they rank. If they were to play half of their games at a home ground like everyone else they would have been at least top 3 and likely minor premier. Once the Finals begin, on neutral territory (arguably at home) they are a completely different proposition.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Yeah, we needed someone to knock them out this year, before finals. They have certainly transformed into an ugly hungry beast now that the major round is on us. I hope I can write a similar eulogy for the Ravens Sunday night.
