A bit over 12 months ago we got a Pod Coffee Machine for use at home. IMO it does a pretty decent coffee, and when you break down the cost, compared to buying a coffee every day, it's ok.
Our local supermarket had a "deal" on the CAPINO expressotoria system pod machine. My understanding is this model is at the bottom end of the pod machine market. The deal was buy $50 worth of coffee pods (obviously the Vittoria brand) and they threw the machine in for free. We grabbed it.
Over the past 12 months there has been a few issues, but some fairly basic maintenance was all that was required. So long as you de-scale the machine every few months, this seems to cure all. Ours seems to work best when the water reservoir is kept fairly well topped up. Also pays every so often to completely drain the water reservoir and clean it out of silt etc. We exclusively use rain water to make our coffees. At least once a week I also run a half cup of water through the machine (without a pod in place) just to keep things clean.
For mine the coffee is certainly good enough. So much so, that I really don't bother visiting my local café any more. For less than $1 a cup at home, why would you pay $4 - $5 elsewhere? Sure its a lot smaller cup, and if time permits I will have 2 cups in the morning. And that's me done for coffee for the day.
My "brew" of choice is the Vittoria Gold Expresso..... there are some compatible "non vittoria" pods that fit our machine as well. These are often cheaper than the Vittoria pods, but for mine not as good.
Any others with Pod machine experiences.... Good, Bad, or otherwise?
