If you had any idea of recruiting, you would know:

A) how much it costs to bring a kry position recruit over from interstate
B) how much of the cap Wundke, Ainger and Boyd occupy at Oval Ave (before you add Thompson, Petrenko, Thurlow etc)

Wouldn't be doing too much squealing if I were you

Redden....
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

FFS Phil, this behaviour is really wearing thin.... Maybe a discreditable Glenelg supporter told you, that's why you won't name names...

He will go ok over here. Absolute ball magnet his main problem stopping him playing AFL is a severe lack of speed. Real hard worker and will be a good addition. Knowing what he was offered by our VFL team, Eagles supporters wouldn't want to question anyone else's cap space[emoji57]

With Rowntree out with ACL and no certainty to this time make it back, the Eagles are only replacing a
midfielder for a midielder & spending what Gus would have earnt playing games!
Redden takes Thurlow's salary also!
Not rocket ( Redleg) salary cap science really.

Based on his form in the VFL he sounds like he will be a great pick-up. However, there have been a number of players who have been great VFL players and recently on AFL lists who have failed to make an impact in the SANFL. It will depend on what is motives are. If he is driven by a desire to get back on an AFL list then he will probably go alright. If he believes the dream is over and is just playing for money then we might be in trouble.

Still, I am looking forward to how he goes. With Redden already signed, I don't imagine we will be signing anyone else of note. Possibly some players from the country and/or amateurs but I think we now have all our bases covered.

I read O'brien had a close relationship with Skipworth who I believe is still somehow involved with Essendon's VFL side . I wonder if Skipworth had any influence in pointing him in our direction? Thurlow would also have had contact with Skipworth whilst on Essendon's list. Might be a trend developing.

On the issue of the salary cap. Is it a simple matter of the eagles not being required to pay Rowntree's salary for the year given he is injured (despite being contracted?). If this is not the case, would the payments he received by included in the Eagles' overall salary cap or can they be paid outside this?
