Can anyone from M/Vale confirm if they still provide jam & cream scones for afternoon tea? One of the best things about playing there back in the SCA days.

Clubrooms/Changerooms/Afternoon Teas both teams will be great for section 1 and the jump up from section 2 shouldn't be a problem for them they will be competitive and as a old SCA fan it's good to see

Cove way to good for the Roo boys. Bat deep and have a lot of great bowling options. Good bunch of lads coming in for afternoon tea and a couple of beers after the game.

On a side note interesting that the two sides that went down to section 2 both won outright today. Both should be playing section 1!

Interesting comment about the two relegated Section 1 sides from last year. Can understand ICC staying up as they finished 6th, but Coromandel... didnt they finish last? One single win in rd 1 for the year?

Care to elaborate on why they should "both be playing section 1"?

I just think section 1 should have 12 teams in it thats all. Didn't realise Coromandel Only won one game last year thought they won a few more so I understand them going down. Why did ICC go down?

Ahh remember the days before twitter, instagram and snapchat when this forum was buzzing with activity? Just for old times sake, lets talk some s#!% about the glory days gone by (really just the last 10 years though). How about the following:

Hardest batsman to get out?
Craftiest bowler (well thought out bowling)?
Hardest bowler to face from ball one?
Best Keeper?
Most explosive innings you've seen in ASCA?
Best 'textbook' innings you've seen in ASCA?
Best game you've played in?

Just off the top of my head:

Hardest batsman to get out?
Richard Press from WYC barely used to give a chance

Craftiest bowler (well thought out bowling)?
D Rowe from Glenelg ANA

Hardest bowler to face from ball one?
May from South Rd when he was on - those bloody yorkers

Best Keeper?
Krutli from South Rd

Most explosive innings you've seen in ASCA?
Heath McKay made 140* at number 6 in a one day match against us after they were 4/20

Best 'textbook' innings you've seen in ASCA?
Hard to go past Robbie Hopkins' chanceless 197

Best game you've played in?
The 2012/13 semi WYC vs Coro. As intense an atmosphere as I've ever been involved in.

Mattner playing Sec 3? Seriously too easy for the guy! He really enjoys playing the low grades. He can seriously play and should have more of crack than he did at port districts.

Before having a crack perhaps you should be made aware of the facts. He's only been able to play 1 week and at home in the first 2 games due to family/work commitments. It's not because he enjoys playing lower grades, if the A grade played at home and were not playing away the first 3 games away (2 so far) then he would of played A grade as a 1 weeker either today or last game. Playing B grade has obviously already proved too easy for him and we'd absolutely love to have him in the A grade but he's in a situation where he can't play A grade away games. He's just playing when/where ever he can.

Don't think that was really having a crack. Just asked the question and got the answer.

Hardest batsman to get out?

Heath Mackay from Keswick is one I always struggled with, same with Shaun Krutli from South Road. Technically very strong and excellent temperaments.
Craftiest bowler (well thought out bowling)?
Dan Rowe from Glenelg ANA can do everything.
Hardest bowler to face from ball one?
Lucky Singh from Keswick with his vicious in swingers was not very friendly.
Best Keeper?
Krutli, easily.
Most explosive innings you've seen in ASCA?
One day we were at ICC and they set us 200 in 30 overs. They were trying for an outright win after smashing us in the first innings. Jon Ferris then went ballistic and smashed 120 off about 80 balls and we got there with 5 overs to spare 1 down. Ball was flying everywhere.
Best 'textbook' innings you've seen in ASCA?
Playing at the Dene is hard for batters but one day Jamie Henwood hit 80 odd against us. One of the few guys ive seen who could successfully on drive for four all along the carpet.
Best game you've played in?
A toss up between the ICC game already mentioned, 2020 final against Cove a few years ago where we won the cup or any win against Coromandel :p

Well fair enough then. I really wish we could of have him in the A grade at the moment but the circumstances work against us.

The craftiest bowler I've seen is probably Mark O'Malley from Glenelg ANA.

Most explosive innings I've seen was Jay Oxlade's 183 against Morphettville Park in my first A grade game in 07/08. He smoked them that day.

The ton Burgess from Port Noarlunga hit against us in a one day game last season was probably the best innings I've seen. A brilliant combination of textbook and explosive batting.

Bloody hell, good work on that knock! I believe it is! Possibly first double ton in Section 1 since I started playing in 03/04

Not the brightest team score though, WYC hit 419 against Cove in the last game of the year around 4/5 years ago before bowling them out twice on the second day to go from 5th to 2nd, and then on to win the flag.

Long time ago now, so names and people will not be easy to recall.

Hardest batsman to get out? - Struggled to get Rowe or Cheek out.
Craftiest bowler (well thought out bowling)? - Stanley, left armer from Plympton always gave me grief.
Hardest bowler to face from ball one? - As above
Best Keeper? - Krutli
Most explosive innings you've seen in ASCA? - Can't recall his name, Div 4 game vs WYC, stocky bloke, smacked 200 by just after tea. Crazy good.
Best 'textbook' innings you've seen in ASCA? - Anytime Pressy made runs. Elegant at this level.
Best game you've played in? - Getting on now, was it 02/03 we ( WYC ) beat Coro @ Coro in the Div 1 GF? 0/55 ( Pressy dropped Cheek off me at slip when Cheek was 3* and 0* not out after going out to the non-strikers end for the last ball of the Saturday.

Either way, my only Div 1 premiership and by far the greatest day of my WYC cricket life.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
