Well done Westies, i found myself cheering as hard for the Bloods as i would the Panthers! Good result for SANFL, the WAFL Grand Final had attendance of 13k, we had over 25k for 2 low support based clubs, glad i went to support our great comp.....and Westies.

After throwing away an opportunity in 1985, plus losing the GF in 1991, 2003 and 2012......this one is very VERY sweet believe me :D

1985.....while we had a very good side its debatable that we could have beaten Glenelg or North Adelaide.

1991.....we were in great form leading up to the game but when the fighting broke out, North Adelaide were the only ones still playing football and thus won the game (I was there).

2003.....I think we did well to reach the GF but even at our best that year I doubt we could have beaten Centrals then.

2012.....same as 2003. We were good, Norwood were better (again, I was there).

Yesterday was the first GF that Westies have been in during my lifetime that despite the Eagles record this year (only 2 losses), I felt confident that we were going to win. Damn it was good to watch (from the hill in front of the video screen ;) )

Enjoy the celebrations, HoldenV8.

Mind you, I'm not sure anyone was going to beat Glenelg in 1985. North did well to get in front by 29 points in the second quarter of the Grand Final IIRC before being steamrolled. That was one helluva power team, 16 out of the 20 who played in the premiership side went to play VFL/AFL or had already done so, and few handy ones at that, plus players like Peter Carey who would've certainly made it if he succumbed to St Kilda in 1981 or whenever it was.

Glad to see Advertiser journalist Reece Homfray acknowledged he got it wrong with his ladder prediction at the beginning of the year. He only had West 10 places incorrect, tipped West to finish last........

Congratulations to Westies. They always looked like the winners
It was the Eagles title to loose and they did that with aplomb
At least we didn't succumb to Norwood, Centrals or the AFL intuders who have all had their turns. (AFL dont count)
Glenelg supporters must be wrapped having sacked a Premiership coach. Well done to Mark Mickan, he was pretty good when he was at the Eagles as a well
The Eagles have their seconds team to thank for some success. To complete a season undefeated is a magnificent achievement in any comp
For West 32 years between drinks is a long wait, enjoy. I had to wait 40 years from 1953 to 1993 for my drinks.
South turn next, perhaps
On to 2016

My sincerest congratulations to West Adelaide. They played inspired footy and were deservedly rewarded with the Premiership.

The Club has been an inspiration all year and to go from 9th to 1st is an outstanding effort. I was so pleased to see Mark Mickan get the result with his beloved Bloods. :)

Easier said than done when the GF is on a Sunday and no public holiday on the Monday.

That Public Holiday came in VERY handy between 2000-2010 :)

As did having the GF on Saturdays for most years before that. Why it isn't on a Saturday is freaking beyond me, only half decent reason for a Sunday GF was the long weekend.

I hope I don't put the mockers on them, but I reckon Westies might win another flag within three years. I'll stick my neck out and say they'll compete in two of the next three grand finals, based purely on the fact that Mickan is coaching them, and he's now got a taste of it.
Damn bloody good for the comp to have such a club that's gutsed it out for so many years become strong.
Just don't get in the way of Sturt's next flag and we'll all get along just fine. 8)

Definately will be around the mark again next year, would imagine they wont lose too many players from yesterdays side

Might lose quite a few I think

Snelling, Haysman, Francis (didn't play due to illness) and Agostino (didn't play)
Will get drafted

Not sure about about a few others too

Book a day off FFS!!! Did they not know they were in the Grand Final!?!?!?![/quote]

lol

Not sure everyone can afford to be taking days of work on a weeks notice at most, especially to go and spend $7-$10 a drink when they may have already taken the Sunday off and more than likely already dropped a hungy at the football and the club the previous day and night.

Congrats West, too good on the day. West's on-ball division too big, strong and footy smart for our lot. Many Eagles players did not perform on the big stage and I thought Godden was out coached (he will bounce back though as evidenced this year from 2014).
Redden will be a significant addition next year but a hard nut onballer to replace Rowntree essential and we still need some more run!

Well done Westies, as I expected too good in the clearances (won that in a cakewalk) and with that better start was half of the way to the pennant. No doubt this flag after such a long time makes it all the more sweet.

Not everyone would be able to that Booney for obvious reasons - unfortunately another negative aspect the comp has had to compromise on to fit in the unwanted ones.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.
